14 Miles, Ritas and Makeovers…Wknd Recap.

Morning workout- taught 55 minutes of spin class with a hot new playlist, and with my hardcore a.m. crew.
Hi there! Another week is upon us. Hope you had a fantastic weekend. Mine was pretty lovely. Lots of time in the sunshine…things are definitely heating up here in Texas.
Saturday morning I did my long run. I was up just after 6 a.m. for 14 miles. Well 14.1 miles if you want to get specific.
I made sure to keep my pace in check for this one. A few tummy issues here and there (and I ran with NO fuel or breakfast except lots of water because of it…I do not recommend thatsometimes I don’t practice what I preach…human) but overall it was actually a good run.
I have been focusing a lot lately on keeping my LR pace in check…according to my Mcmillan pace calculator I should stay within a certain range for these runs…

I know that some runs are ones where you work on your RACE pace, but as a marathon runner I do realize the importance of saving up your energy stores for those harder efforts.

During the week I work on speed, and tempo runs! I have a half marathon at the end of this month too so I will try to push the pace a bit. I think my body is finally starting to get acclimated to this heat and humidity which I am happy about.
After the run I chilled it out for a bit and then I hosted a margarita and makeover party for some of the girls that I run with in my neighborhood. I busted out the new rita glasses and colorful plates for the occasion.
My friend just started her Mary Kay business and wanted to practice on us. I also got some free goodies out of the deal!
We made sure to take an ‘after’ pic of our glamourous makeovers.
My afternoon was pretty busy so I took a nap, then woke up and grabbed dinner from Red Lobster. Crab legs, roasted taters, corn and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy those cheddar bay biscuits. Sorry but no pic of those babiesโ€ฆthey were gone too fast.
Saturday night I actually had time to do my hair and then I went to celebrate a friend’s birthday on the late night tip.
Sunday was church, a nap, and an evening sunset run! 88 degrees, the sun was blazin’ but I managed to squeeze in a quick 6 miler. Topping my weekly mileage out to 40 miles for the week! I was a maniac. This week I will be scaling things back a bit but I’m enjoying building things back up to that solid number!
How was your weekend? Did anyone get their race on? (I know this machine did!)
Ladies, what kind of makeup do you wear?
I do love MK’s mascara but generally I wear Clinique.

  1. Aww, thanks for the shoutout. ๐Ÿ™‚ It sounds like you had a fantastic weekend! I love the new margarita glasses. Those colors are so fun! Way to get in those 40 miles and kick butt on your long run. I’ve probably been doing my long runs a bit faster than I should, but I’m still running a little over a minute slower than my “goal” pace…just not up to goal fitness yet, which is where things get complicated. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. You’re on fire girl! I always have trouble keeping my pace in check – usually starting off too fast and then getting discouraged as my time increases. Something to work on…

  3. The weekend was eventful! I do not typically wear make up but Chanel red lipstick is my favorite! (It was a gift and I cherish it!) I live Mary Kay’s Mascara it’s amazing and the wonderful eye shadows. 14 miles with no fuel OH MY!

  4. You never cease to disappoint me on Monday when I stop in to check out your fabulous weekend!!! It’s like watching an addicting TV series!!! Long runs + girls night out + make-up, etc. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

  5. 40 miles!! Awesome job! Nice work on the run too. I always think about you when it seems “too hot” for me to run, and it motivates me to suck it up and get out there!!

  6. Thanks for the reminder about pacing the long run properly – great post! My favorite makeup brands are MAC and Shiseido.

  7. Seriously I love hearing about your runs. when I get to train for my first marathon I’m totally doing it like you do. It makes so much sense to go easy easy on your long runs and then do faster ‘shorter’ runs during the week. You are rocking that mileage and pace, way to go!
