AMRAPs and Fast Friends.

This morning before my run I got in a quick AMRAP workout. Did this strength shot I told you about before. Quick but very effective. It’s mostly bodyweight exercises but I used weights for the squats and lunges portion. Felt good to get it in.

The toughest part had to be the walking planks. They were challenging but I liked it! I will have to do these more often.
Soon after I jumped out to meet my friend Elyse for a quick 5 mile loop at our favorite little playground.

I love running with this girl because she always pushes me to go just a little bit faster. Always trying to keep up with her! She’s definitely a lot speedier than me but it’s so motivating to run with someone who’s faster sometimes. She’s always just a beat or two ahead of me but I enjoy chasing after her.

Picked up a the pace a bit towards the end. Felt good to finish strong.
Came home, cleaned up. Made myself a smoothie. Wearing a new maxiโ€ฆrocking the chevron.

Subbing a spin class tonight after work. I am also teaching in the morning so it will mostly be me dancing around and yelling at them keeping them motivated off the bike for an hour. They love it.
Have you ever tried an AMRAP workout or walking planks? Do you ever run (or try to keep up) with fast friends?ย

  1. You have such beautiful places to run in Dallas. I had a friend just move there. I think I need to go down & visit her once she gets settled in so I can see the beautiful places you guys get to run. ๐Ÿ™‚

My coach has a group workout every Tuesday morning at the local high school and that’s where I get to try & keep up with fast people. It’s tough! A lot of people run ALOT faster than I do and it’s a challenge to keep up with them.

I used to do planks all the time, but have never done a walking plank. I’ll have to give it a try some time.

  2. Nice run!
I’m pretty much a solo runner, but think I would like to play “catch up” with a faster runner friend. I always enjoy getting other runners (and even some slower bikers) in my sights and chasing them down on the path, so would be fun having a partner out there.

  3. Help a sister out – whats AMRAP? Love me some walking planks though. Just finished a morning yoga session and tried to channel some of your love for yoga. Enjoyed it and feel really good!

    • Stands for…as many rounds as possible ๐Ÿ™‚ I wrote a blog post about it not long ago. It’s a challenging workout and great conditioning/strength work!

I love yoga! Did some after my run. I always do hip opening stretches since that is my weak area, yoga seems to do the trick in terms of keeping me limber!

  4. I am beyond impressed that you can run so quickly in those Texas summer temps. I aspire to be as cool as you someday. ๐Ÿ™‚ Currently, my only running buddy is my fiance, who is just starting back up as a runner, so he’s still running at my speed (thank goodness), so no speedy friends to run with. Maybe I should find some. Love the new dress–that chevron is a great print! Have a fantastic day!

    • That is great that your fiance runs with you! My BF does not run, but he does play basketball and goes to the gym. He always jokes about killing it in the *1K* race. hahaha. I definitely enjoyed running a little bit faster (even if it wasn’t THAT much faster) this morning!

  5. I love running with fast friends — you never know what your body is capable of until you run with people that are faster than you. I do feel bad running with my non-pregnant friends right now because I feel like I am slowing them down, but for the most part they’ve been very UNDERSTANDING!!!! and will take walking breaks with me. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have some pretty cool friends.

    • That is super sweet of them to run with you! You seem to be doing pretty good to be doing the amount of running you do with that bun in the oven! I seriously hope to be a running rockstar like you when/if I ever get prego!

  6. Girl you can fly!! I always run by myself, but I can see how running with someone a bit faster would be great motivation to kick it up a notch. PS Love that chevron dress!
