It felt amazing to sleep in this morning. And by ‘sleeping in’ I mean until about 7:15 am. Working girl problems. Anyways, I always look forward to Tuesdays because I don’t have to rush to get anywhere in the mornings…I can just take my time getting up, work out a little bit later, and stroll on into work at my leisure.
I bounced outta bed, turned some music on and got revved up to hit my apartment gym.
Hit the weights for some upper body, core work and squats. And of course a run. It wouldn’t be Tuesday morning without me gettin’ my run on. I felt like pushing myself so I did a quick warm up before getting in a strong (for me) 3 miles in.
It has been a while since I’ve pushed the pace like that…but much needed. I got out a little aggression and extra energy I think I had been holding onto. Felt oh so good.
Some of you have been asking me what’s next in the world of running. I do have some more races on the horizon…
–13.1 Dallas. Technically I am not racing this one but I will be an official pacer – an opportunity given to me by Luke’s Locker. My first time pacing a race…although I did pace my friend Ann to a PR last year which was super duper fun. I am looking forward to going out there and just having a good time.
–The Metro PCS Dallas Marathon. I will be running this one in December with Team VW – like last year. This will be my first year running the full marathon on this course…I’ve run the half for the past few years. The group I’ve been coaching is running this race so I figured I might as well do the full gusto. I have this crazy pants goal that I want to run 10 full marathons before I turn 30. Which is April of 2014. This will be #8.
–The Houston Marathon. I’ve had this one on the schedule for a while and I am so proud to say I qualified for it with this race time. It’s in January. I love H.town, my boo lives there, and I just want to run it and have fun with it. #9.
I have not figured out what number 10 will be but I’m tossing around a few Texas races in my mind. I am thinking about either Cowtown or the Irving Marathon.
I do not have any big goals for these races. A PR would be awesome but I am just trying to hit the big 10 by 30. My goal in every marathon has always been just to go out there, run my heart out, and have a good time. So we’ll see what happens.
Of course I will likely throw in some 5k races and holiday fun races in the mix.
This is definitely my favorite time of year to race! Bring on fast running and cooler weather!
What races do you have on your fall/winter calendar? Do you have any holiday races you like to run every year?
