Hello hello friends! How was your Thanksgiving holiday? I hope you were able to relax and enjoy the company of friends and fam. My vacation was nice and long and I am definitely ready to hit it hard this week!
I taught spin this morning after about a week hiatus. It felt good to be back in the saddle! We did lots of speedy intervals and hill climbs. I pulled an old playlist out from the vault and we sprinted to this track at the end which was too much fun.
Now I’m sippin’ on some green tea and writing at my desk. From a Christmas mug, of course…
So let’s backtrack to last week! I had a short work day on Wednesday and then Thursday got up early with my mama for the Castle Hills Turkey Trot put on by Riverstone Ministry. This was their very first trot race! I love this neighborhood…they have a beautiful lake, golf course, picturesque homes, and LOTS of cray cray hills. CH definitely lives up to its name. I was invited by my friend and running buddy Jackie so decided it would be a fun run before we got down on some grubbin’.
It has been about A YEAR…yes a YEAR…since I’ve raced a 5K! I seriously just went into it with the intention to have fun but it was nice and chilly and perfect conditions to do some faster running! My goal was to finish in under 25 minutes and I did it! I stayed within the 7 minute pace range so I was really proud of myself for pushing the pace (especially with all of those climbs!). I stayed neck and neck with my girl Jackie for most of the race (but she smoked me) and we both ended up placing! 2nd and 3rd place age group winners out of 90 women!
I love how it says we are 18 years old…haha…makes me feel like a kid again.
After the run I went home and did some cookin’ with mama! We had some family come over but it really was a low key Thanksgiving this year. We danced around the kitchen in comfy clothes drinking wine, talking and listening to music. She made the turkey and I helped out with the sides. I think it all came together perfectly!
I also made us some holiday sangria. My specialty. All you need for this one is white wine (I used pinot grigio), sparkling apple cider, chopped up pears, red and green apples, and fresh cranberries. Let it marinade and chill in the fridge for a couple of hours and you are good to go!
I was pretty lazy for the rest of the week and then Saturday did an easy 9 miler with some running buds at a 9 minute pace. It felt good to get the legs going again!
Sunday was yoga. Oh yoga, how my body and mind loves you. I seriously need to incorporate more of this into my life.

I did not…but I helped my mom put hers up! I will do it this week for sure.
