Monday Checklist, Long Runs and Wknd Recap.

Hello there! The sun is shining here and I am happy about that as we had rain and clouds for most of the weekend. Hope your day got off to a great start!

And yes, that is my only checklist for today. Well, we can add water to that list. Water and coffee are the only two things I’ll be needing to get through this day. I taught spin this morning too so I’m very much looking forward to getting my monthly 90 minute massage tonight.

This past weekend was equal parts filled with running and relaxing. Friday night I went out with a man friend to this new spot in Coppell…Carmel Restaurant and Lounge. It was quite a beautiful place. Perfect dark and romantic atmosphere. And yes, I hard to carb load it up a bit for my run the very next morning.

So 50K training for the ultra in March has been going well so far. The good thing about marathon training solo is you can kind of get up whenever you want and start running. I do love that. It was a great run and temps were just perfect, right in the 30s.

Recovery wise I felt phenomenal after. These longer runs usually have me feeling really spent so I was surprised by how not at all sore I was. It made it all the more better for my 10 mile run the very next day.

I felt so good I even pushed the pace a bit. It was raining and drizzling on and off but I had a beautiful backdrop which made the hour and a half run go fast.

Other than that I didn’t do much…just church, and catching up on all of my shows. Has anyone been watching the current season of The Apprentice? I’m loving it so far. Shocker…I pretty much love all things reality television. And Vivica Fox gives me life.

My mom and I also had a fun movie date last night to see the movie Selma.

We were actually supposed to see Wild…but the theater it was playing in was having some issues so they gave us free tickets for next time. BUT… If you have not seen Selma, I definitely recommend you go–however it is very emotional. I cried for about half of the movie…so glad we do not live in that day and age but it is a very timely film. Check it out…and bring tissues.

How was your weekend? Did you get any rockin long runs in?

  1. I looove your checklist!! Coffee is all that matters (yeah…and water, too I guess)! Hehe! Great long run and nice temps! Running in the 30s feels great! Glad you had a fun, action packed weekend! Happy Monday! XOXO

  2. A Man Friend?? Yay for them! I will be seeing Selma with my Women of Wisdom group with church. Sounds like you had a great weekend. Me and Lon went to a funeral, church and watched our Cowboys go down in burning flames.

    • Girl…yes get ready for Selma. It’s such a powerful movie though I think you will really love it. It made me kind of mad at times though but it does the job at getting the point across. It’s just amazing how far we have come as a nation but I still think there’s work to be done.

  3. Hey, where did my comment go? I swear I started a comment and it just deleted. Ugh. I hate when that happens. Crazy busy at work out of nowhere. You had great back to back runs!! You are amazing. I was on coffee numero dos but I might have another cup after I pick up Lili. this day has just been crazy!!!!

    Happy Monday!

    • Absolutely! I think the consistency of back to back long runs are really important when training for a distance longer than 26.2 miles. I guess we’ll find out come March 1st when I run the 50K!! Can’t wait!!

  4. Running in the 30s and 40s is my favorite! Light layers is where it’s at 🙂 I still want to see Wild too! Will have to do that ASAP. And coffee is of course a daily thing to check off the list. I can’t even have that much anymore but I have to have SOME or I just don’t feel like my day got started. And look at you knocking out 17 miles like it’s cake — not sure why that surprises me anymore you’re killing it as usual!

  5. Definitely go back and see Wild — it’s worth it! I have heard amazing things about Selma and cannot wait to see that as well.

Love reading about your 50K training! So motivating! Glad it’s going so well.

  6. There are so many movies out that I want to see- we rarely go to the theater anymore.
Yes, – we are watching the Celebrity Apprentice (not tonight- NCAA championship football!!) and loving it!

  7. you are serious with those runs, girl. great job. i didn’t see Selma — okay, so i didn’t even HEAR of it until the Globes (i’m a movie fail), but i did see and love Wild. so good.
