20 Miles, Keeping it Simple and Weekend Recap.

Happy Monday…hope all is well in your world. Maybe you have the day off for MLK? I’ll be at work…I taught spin this morning, and now I’m at my desk sipping on coffee all the day long.

Let’s backtrack to the weekend, shall we? I have to say it was a good one. Filled with good eats, running, and fun with friends.

Saturday started off with quite the bang. Getting my training in for the 50K (6 week countdown til I hit ultrarunner status!!) I basically just went and spent the entire morning in the park. Thankfully we had some stellar weather to keep me going. Ahh yes, I do love Texas in January.

After the run it was a whole lot of nothing, rest mostly….I put my feet up with my compression socks. Oh yes, and sushi. Spicy tuna for the win.

Sunday I had another run on the schedule so I went ahead and knocked that one out too. It was a good 90 minute run just jamming to my tunes.

Then I had brunch with Natalie at our favorite spot, Frankie’s. Temps were in the 60s…great patio weather.

How cool are the bottles on the wall by the way? Seriously awesome.

I ended the day with some restorative yoga. I have to tell you restorative is my new thing. I need something to shut my brain off after going 100 miles an hour all the time.

This is what I’ll be working on this week. Keeping it simple.

How was your weekend? Did anyone run a fun race?

What’s the weather like where you are?
They are now saying on the radio the high will be in the 70s today. Be right back…going outside to play.

  1. Patio weather! You’re so very lucky. The weather here goes from damp, cold and sunless to freezing and sunless. I can’t believe the race is approaching so quickly. Happy Monday and happy training!

  2. I hope you ate a TON of sushi after burning 2390 calories on that long run! 😉 I’m loving restorative yoga lately, too. It really helps with my anxiety. Actually, the next book on my to-buy list is a yin yoga book, which I’m excited to get to read. I’m glad you had a great weekend and I hope you have a lovely and relaxing Monday!

  3. I’m working today too! Haven’t had coffee yet, but it may be in store for this afternoon. By the way – great run! I’m incredible jealous of your amazing weather. Jan. in Ohio is no where that pleasant – think of us up north while you’re enjoying literally perfect running weather!

  4. Ultrarunning?! Wow, you are definitely my inspiration, girl! Anyway, looks like you had a totally fit and fun weekend. 🙂 I have the day off today, but I’ll definitely still be answering emails from home! :p

  5. My weekend was kid free! LOL MOM on the loose! I went to Happy Hour and then Karaoked my life away and went to the dog park on Sat. Sunday I praised the Lord and reunited with my little one and we went to a b-day gathering. We spent the rest of the evening looking at Atlanta housewives “Puerto-READ co” and cuddled.

  6. We actually had gorgeous weather for January – sadly I had to stay inside all weekend but….
You are doing awesome on your training – can’t wait till the day you run your ultra!

  7. Had to work here in Canada…no MLK day for us. Those bottles look great, but they would look even better full! Love me some Patron 🙂
Your weather looks great, very jealous…like that run top in your 20-miler selfie too, very cool!
