Well since today is #throwbackThursday…what better way to reminisce than to talk about some of my favorite running moments? There are almost too many to count. Running has truly brought so much joy into my life over the years!
So here are just a few…
Chicago Marathon…my first 26.2
This race was without a doubt one of my faves…well that, and it was my VERY first 26.2 – 5 years ago. So I’m a bit bias. But that course can’t be beat if you have some good weather. It’s truly a bucket list item you have to check off of your list if you have not run it. Flat, fast course…out of this world spectators…awesome food. The list goes on and on!
Coaching with the Luke’s Locker program
Seriously…without the Luke’s Locker running group I would not be where I am today with my running. I attribute my bonafide love for this sport through all of the solid friendships and advice I’ve gotten over the years from these people. Not only did I meet some incredible runners but I was able to become a volunteer coach and help other runners achieve their goals. It was a great experience I will remember for the rest of my life.
Setting my 1st sub 4 PR at the Marine Corps Marathon
I froze my hiney off, pushed myself, and stayed mentally strong throughout this entire race. My head was truly in the game that day. And what better course to kick ass other than at MCM. Finish time 3:54.
2nd sub 4 PR at the Galveston Marathon
Not only did I battle crazy winds and rain but I set another sub 4 awesome time of 3:56. And placed in my age group! It was a small race but I do cherish that award. Absolutely had a great time at this race though and just love running on the beach.
Becoming a MARATHON MANIAC!
Definitely joining the ranks of these crazy runners has been a fun experience! I ran 3 full marathons back to back last year in order to hit that goal of qualifying. Not only that but I succeeded in my goal of running 10 full marathons before I turned 30. It was hard and I thought I’d fall apart but in the end I did what I set out to do! And getting that swag was just the icing on the cake.
Running with my sole sistas at the Erie Marathon
Absolutely loved running this race with my sistas and my good friend Ann (far right)! Her family was so kind and hospitable and let us stay with them in their lovely home. We ran this race and then toured the wineries in PA and upstate NY afterwards! What a cool experience.
