Irving Marathon and Weekend Recap.

Hope you all had a great weekend. It’s a rainy day here but I still managed to get some spin cycling in with my early morning crew and some strength training after. It felt good to hit the weights after the marathon.

Ah yeah! The Irving Marathon. Let’s do a quick recap of that one.

Saturday morning I was up early for 26.2! This particular marathon was in my neighborhood…in a park I’m fairly familiar with. The race started bright and early at 7:30 am. As some of you know, last year I ran the half marathon as a pacer. But this year I was ready to rock it out on my own! I love running in the area…the area had a few rolling hills and it’s very scenic with lots of pretty trees and flowers. I wore my Marathon Maniac gear, of course. All decked out in pink.


I have been doing lots of races lately so I didn’t quite have a goal down for this race. It has been a while since I have run any full marathon under 4:20…at least 2 years. So I truly was not sure what my finish time would be. I have a few other races on the horizon so I just wanted to go out there, run by feel, and have a good time! Plus I signed up about 2 weeks ago. Haha…so this one was a little impromptu. 26.2 to celebrate the month of April- my birthday month!


The first half of the race was nice and cool but it quickly warmed up…I talked to lots of fun folks along the way…high fived some friends on the course…and took a beautiful photo of our state flower, the Texas Bluebonnets.


The course does a few loops then a little out and back taking us through the Campion Trail and a few more hills to the finish. I looked down at my Garmin and there you have it finished well under 4:20! I shaved tons of time off of my past few marathons and I could not be prouder. Fastest marathon in a while. So I’ll take it. 26.2 number 13 is done.



After the race I had a bit of pool/red wine time with friends. You must try Mark West’s pinot noir. Good stuff. Cheers to life.


And of course I celebrated Easter with my sweet mama. We went to church and then brunch at Pie 314.


And then decorated some Easter eggs with my cutest cousins.

  4. Great job on getting way under 4:20! You are a running machine and definitely have 50 miles in those legs! I can’t wait until it is warm enough for poo/wine (maybe lake/wine) afternoons here!!
