Hello and happy Friday to you! I am back from my week long Hawaiian vacation and it was a lovely time in paradise! I almost did not want to come back. But I do have a job and someone’s got to do it!
I celebrated being back in big D with a run this morning. It was pretty chilly but thankfully the sun is shining…it felt good to get the legs going again after being on long plane rides!
We will get back to TGIFriday Faves and our regularly scheduled program next week but for today I thought I’d do a quick vacation recap.
Last Friday I landed in Honolulu around noon and the sun was shining bright. It was a nice little aloha moment especially after dealing with chilly Dallas temps!
My old college roommate lives there so she picked me and my mom up and immediately took us to see some Hawaiian views!
For the weekend we all stayed in a cottage on the Bellows military base in Waimanalo. Which really is more like a resort! It is amazing and literally sits right on their own private beach. My friend Mary is in the military and is an officer in the navy so she really knows the lay of the land.
Running on the beach…absolute bliss.
Most of Saturday and Sunday was spent doing some exploring. Mary took us to the North Shore where a surfing championship was going on. We kicked it on the beach and watched the waves.
We also stopped by a shrimp truck and the farmers market to look at all the tropical fruits!
Sunday was the Honolulu Marathon! We did a little spectating and watched all the runners trek through the heat and humidity. I actually have 2 marathons coming up (hello New Years Double!) so it was a nice little 26.2 motivation.
Monday-Wednesday were real chill…we had dinner in Waikiki and enjoyed a bit of the beach…
Had a mai tai on the rooftop…
And also went on a super fun hike! There was a waterfall at the top of the mountain. Talk about breathtaking. I will remember that forever.
My mama also got to see her brother who lives there…and also who she has not seen in over 30 years! What a treat it was to see them reunite.
Then we ended the trip with some java at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf…will hula for coffee is an accurate statement.
How was your week?
What are you looking forward to this weekend?
Ugly Christmas sweater party!
