This morning’s run was 8 miles before 8 a.m. at a 9:30 something pace. Holy humidity! But I got it done. As you know I’ve have a few races coming up so I have a feeling I will be good and ready. Just have to get through the next month or so and there will be some cooler weather!
Speaking of cooler weather I think we may get some relief this weekend! You know it’s brutally hot when highs in the 80s and mid 90s sound like okay running weather.
So as a frequent gym goer and I know my gym rats will be able to relate I know it’s fairly important to be fully stocked with the right goods. A lot of times I’m basically living out of my car because I’ll get up and run with my group, head home and shower/get dressed, then pack a bag for the day. That bag usually accompanies me to the gym for job number 2, teaching spin classes in the evening.
Also I have to say that the Lululemon bags they give you when you make a purchase make EXCELLENT tote bags for everyday. They’re huge and actually pretty durable.
Here’s what’s in my bag!
–Spin cycle shoes &/or regular workout shoes. I love cycle shoes and actually feel that if you are taking spin classes more than once a week they’re absolutely vital. You will get a better workout hands down because you are engaging more leg muscles while clipped in as opposed to with regular shoes.
–Lulu socks. These run socks are awesome for wicking moisture and oh so comfy. I became a fan of lululemon socks a few years ago and have not looked back.
–Fresh workout clothes. I love anything that’s breathable, such as lulu shorts and dri fit type tops.
–Makeup wipes/deodorant/random toiletries. These cucumber wipes are the best for wiping off eye makeup or whatever I put on for work that day. Typically in the summer I do not wear face makeup to work, just eyeliner and mascara. This makes my skin much clearer and keeps my pores clean in this brutal heat. I tend to put more makeup on during the weekends when I’m going out.
–Cute headbands. I’m a big fan of Sweaty Bands because they have all sorts of fun patterns. You can order these online or find them at bigger race/marathon expos.
–Water bottle...love this big pink one (it’s 64 ounces) and I carry it around basically everywhere.
What’s in your gym/workout bag?
You have a well stocked bag! I have the men’s version of your shoes, socks and water bottle (a Camelback in gray)…but none of that other stuff!
haha oh yeah those are great cycle shoes…I also really like Pearl Izumis!!
I always have deodorant, a face towel and extra socks and hair ties in my gym back. One time I forgot socks and hated working out in just sweaty sneakers. Now I overstock!
LOL ohh I’ve had those moments! That is the worst!
Awesome how consistent you are in your runs and your bag of tricks looks good! Those temps are killer… even for a Floridian!
Hope you have a good Friday and great weekend.
Hey thx so much back atcha!!
Yay for the summer “cold front”!!!! Of course we will be in Oklahoma this weekend when it actually cools down lol – That pink water jug is legit! Where did you get it?
Five Below!! 🙂 🙂 YES and yay for a little cooler front!
Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely! Thanks for visiting!!
I love the bag. I try to keep my bag with at least the essentials…shirt, socks, sneakers and shorts. Sometimes when I’m thinking about it, I try to include a towel at least. One time I forgot the socks and had to run after work in my dress socks, that was a slippery run.:-) I like your plan!
haha yeah I’m so thankful for one of the gyms I work out at for providing us with clean towels cuz I’m always forgetting one!
My gym bag – assorted toiletries…a gel or two, Nuun, a watch or two, BodyGlide, Arnicare, A&D, safety pins…probably a few other things.
Body glide is so important for running for sure!
