8 miles for me this morning with the Irving Running Club crew along for the ride. It as been so muggy this week but I have been pushing through these runs getting them done. I have another small run planned later on today to test out a new pair of shoes I just got in the mail. Happy happy joy.
I tell you what, I get so giddy when I get a fresh pair of Newtons. They always have the best colors too. Can’t wait to take these babies out for a ride tonight.
I have slowly been playing around with double run days, doing most of my running in the morning then a quick shake out run in the evenings. I don’t do this often but I really find it helps my legs recover faster. Plus sometimes I just feel faster in the evenings. Who knew? Maybe because I’m actually wide awake and ready to burn off some stress from the busy work day.
So it has been a while since we’ve done some runner (and random) confessions. See part 1 here. Let’s get to it, shall we?
In no particular order…I confess…
–That I have to have at least 1 cup of coffee a day to make it through these early runs and the work day. Some days it’s 2. Just hook me up to an IV and keep me caffeinated all day, thankyouverymuch.
–Some days I really enjoy running alone. Since I joined back up with a running group, I ALWAYS have a friend to run with. My run club constantly keeps me motivated and especially now that I have joined Strava with them. But having so much social interaction lately is making me crave more alone time. Blame the only child in me. For the most part I am an extrovert but I do have my introvert moments from time to time. I just need to charge my batteries and then I’m all good in the hood.
–I am actively searching for my next ultra run…particularly one on a trail. Although this race looks tempting too. I think I just want to run a 100 miler just to say I’ve done one. Then go back to running 50ks and 50 milers every once in a while. It just takes so dang long to recover from an ultra and I’m always ready to bounce back quick and get into the next challenge. We’ll see.
–I feel like I am in need of some more fun weekends and girl time. Bring on a little wine tasting…as a matter of fact I think I’m going to make that happen this upcoming weekend.
–I never get tired of all of the pumpkin flavored things that come along with fall. Now, if fall would just hurry up and get here I would be a happy camper.
What are some runner (or non runner) things you need to confess today?
I eat ice cream as much as I want
haha, nice! I am the same way sometimes except with fro yo!
I miss double running days. I am fortunate to get one! I still need to dust off my double jogger too. I haven’t taken the kids for a run though I think they might want to run along side of me…
OH girl, I could never get sick of pumpkin either!! LOVE LOVE LOVE pumpkin. Also I am on my second cup coffee as I type this and it’s only 11:19. Ugh.
Oh no girl you have me beat! I’m still working on number 1. Organic Guatemalan roast today!!
I LOVE reading your blog, I have a second run planned today and it’s great to be inspired by your post. My confession: I treated myself to a salted caramel mocha this morning and still had a donut snack when i got to work!
Wow! Mocha sounds great! Sometimes you just need a fun coffee beverage. Have a great 2nd run!
I learned something new today about running. Didn’t know doubles helped with recovery but it does make sense to give the legs a little shake out.
Indeed!
Ha! I love me some pumpkin. In fact, I made some pumpkin ice cream last night for dessert. 🙂 and I’m with you on the coffee. Yes please. It’s funny you say you’re looking for the next ultra. I’ve been thinking about finding another 50k soon or maybe cross over to the 50 miler…
50 miler! Yes! Do it…you will spend all day running & love every minute of it! Let me know if you need any more inspiration to join us on the dark side! 😉
Haha, I usually just drink coffee in the morning, but I will drink iced tea all throughout the day! It’s always what I crave after a warm run, too.
My confession: I might have to go on a work trip soon and my first thought was, “Where will I run?!” And I’m hoping my foam roller will fit in my suitcase…
Yep tea is my jam too! Have a great weekend!
