Chilly Runs, Trail Time and Wknd Recap.

Hi there! Hope you had a lovely weekend. Have you gotten all of your Christmas shopping done yet? I have a bit left but am hoping to get it done before tomorrow. I went for a super chilly run this morning. Just part 1 of my runs today. Temps for this run came out to about 19 degrees. That is ridiculous for us Texans. But I loved it! My hands were frozen before the end of this run but the sunshine definitely helped to warm me up a bit.

So let’s recap the weekend in pics, shall we? I am gearing back up for a few races including a trail ultra. So back to the long runs on the weekends. I have to tell you that I LOVE doing my long runs on the trail. It’s so great to take a break every once in a while from pounding the pavement. Your body will certainly thank you for that. Plus it forces me personally to slow WAY down. And me being my type A self, it’s good for this roadie to appreciate some trail time. You know what I’m saying?

15 miles done on the beautiful Knob Hills trail. I’ve linked back up with the Dallas Dirt Runners, they are a crazy group of trail runners in Dallas and a lot of them run ultras. Oh heck yes, I have found my people.

Later on I went to an ugly sweater Christmas party with my girl Natalie. Naughty and nice…pick which one is which? I know, it’s a hard decision.

Sunday funday runday. I kid you not the high on Saturday afternoon was 70 something degrees and temps dropped overnight to 20. It was a shock to the body for sure and the wind was NOT playing around! So me and a friend waited until Sunday afternoon to run. It was still freezing cold. HA. But we got it done. Hot chocolate with almond milk was the icing on the cake.

How was your weekend? Is it snowing where you are?
No snow here! It’s supposed to warm back up just a little this week but I am enjoying my frozen runs while they last.

Yes. It is definitely a winter wonderland up here, with lots of snow. Lots more than this time last year.
