1. You get to the coffee before anyone else. Fresh coffee made first thing in the morning is where it’s at.
2. You can get in 10 some odd miles before some people even hit snooze on their alarm clocks.
3. The roads & trails are quiet…mostly empty/traffic free which means more running for you.
4. Morning runners are just happier people in general. I’m just saying, I’m sure there is a poll somewhere out there to prove this.
5. You can go home after work and plop down on the couch without a care in the world. Workout is over and done with.
6. I’m telling you that friends that run with you in the morning will be your BFFs. With the exception of a couple of really awesome girlfriends, most of my friends are runners and we are as thick as thieves. Plus they probably know me better than anyone because they have seen me half asleep and cranky first thing in the a.m.
7. Once you start a habit of running first thing in the morning, it usually pretty much sticks. I’ve been running in the mornings for years and I never really get tired of it. It’s kind of like breathing…it’s just something you do. I do love switching it up every now and again (lunchtime runs come in close 2nd) but in general morning runs are where it’s at.
What are some things you love about running in the mornings?
Haha. No matter how hard I try, I can never consistently get up early in the morning.
Well I hope I can motivate u to do so!! U can do it!!
Isn’t running just so much easier in the morning? A day sat at a desk means you spend the first mile or two of an evening run just trying to loosen up. I’m still too lazy to get up and out though!
OMG yes and yes! Thankfully I have a standing desk but the time it takes to loosen up from the work day can be a chore! I run in the evenings sometimes too but there is just nothing like that morning run to get the day going!!
I’ve been trying! It’s hard when my husband isn’t at home, and I’m the one left to cuddle our pup! I can’t leave the dog all alone in bed!
Aww pup cuddles are the best!
easy runs are great in the morning, but I struggle with getting quality speed work out of my legs in the morning. I usually need a longer warm up and my first reps are difficult. I do like having run done when I go home, though.
I run twice a day often (hence the 70 mile weeks lately) so I totally get what you’re saying! Speed workouts can be easier in the evenings for sure. Hope training is going well!
My favorite thing about running in the morning is definitely coming home and relaxing. It’s so nice to not have to worry about getting it done when I’m already beat from a long day. Lately, I’ve been doing classes in the morning (like pilates or barbell) so I’ve been going out for lunch runs just so I can still get home and relax!
Absolutely! It’s so nice to get it all done early, makes you feel super productive with your time too!
I love morning running! I work so early though I can’t do it in on work days (mon-fri). I usually am at work by 7am and that involves a 30 minute commute. So unless I want to be out at 3:30am (and I don’t) I just run after work. The weekends though are all morning running!! I LOVE IT. If I worked at 9am I would run every single morning. Nothing is better than coming home after a long day and plopping on the couch with my SO and dogs and not worrying about getting my workout done.
Yeah girl 7 a.m. start to the work day is no joke! I feel ya!! Good on you for getting it in when you can!
I tried, can’t do it. I have barely enough energy in the morning to drag myself into the shower, much less have the mental wherewithal to tie my shoes laces. Besides, night runs help me burn off all the day’s stress and leave me relaxed.
Hahaha! Well do it when u can then!! Just thought I’d put a little peer pressure on my bonafide night runners! 😂
So true! I love being able to feel accomplished before 8am in the morning. Plus it leave room in the evening for a more casual walk or allowance for bad weather that can roll in during the day.
Yes indeedy!
