Random Thoughts Thursday.

Hello there! Welcome to one of my favorite days of the week. You say Thursday, I say it’s Friday eve. PLUS…I am actually off work tomorrow (on a little staycation/long weekend holiday) so hey, even better since it is kind of my Friday! Let’s get to this week’s randomness, rants and such.

So post race recovery has gone super well. I attribute most of this to the fact that I did a ton of power hiking during that 100k. So I’ve basically been running all week long! I did take the day after the race completely off. But actually RUNNING has been helping me to recover. Motion is lotion, baby.

My body does feel great but mentally I still feel like I’m slowly getting back to normal. I was basically a zombie on Monday. I am not sure why I even came in to work. I’m pretty sure I looked like this cat.

Sleep however has been AMAZING. Rest = the best recovery there is out there. I could just sleep sleep sleep all day long. LOL. I wish. Some of us do have jobs.

I had the most wonderful sushi and rose wine last night with some of my favorite people. Sushi…also the best recovery cure without a shadow of a doubt.

I have been doing some online dating. I think its amazing what some people put out there on their online dating profiles. Sometimes I get on there just to swipe left and right for a good laugh. Also, please do not propose to me via the internet. At least give us an opportunity to meet first. LOL. Just saying.

Can we talk about how overjoyed I am that the State Fair of Texas begins THIS WEEKEND?! Give me all of the fair foods, carnival rides and whatever else! Actually, I am lying about the fair foods part. I can’t stomach the grease and fried stuff. I go for the WINE GARDEN. You already know.

Brooks sent me the most wonderful shoes that I have been running in all week long. Feels like Christmastime. LEVITATE. Get you some.

I’ve been listening to Mariah Carey a lot lately. Like discovering old songs that I remember that I loved from her back in the day. This song makes my soul happy.

That’s all, y’all!

Tell me some randomness about your week!

    • Have fun, be willing to put up with their forever changing EMOTIONS during the 100 mile race, because they will at some point be cranky/tired/over it, etc – help them remember to continue drinking & eating & taking in fuel etc because they will straight up forget, what else…oh and HAVE FUN!! 🙂 Great question!

  1. I just did my first 70.3 a week and a half ago, on a Sunday of course. Monday I thought I was dying, wished I hadn’t gone in to work, but then Tuesday I felt great. I think the moving around actually helped me because if I’d stayed home I would have just vegged. 🙂

  2. So random rant, there’s the tree, well I run past two of these trees in less than .25 miles. It’s a ginkgo tree and apparently the fruit falls in the autumn and it smells like rotten meat. I normally try to breathe in my nose, out my mouth, but this foul odor keeps me from breathing in my nose until I pass it. Ugh, this tree kills me every fall!

  3. Maybe you could get a job as a professional sleep study participant 😉 I had a friend who made 2000 bucks participating in a sleep study. The catch: he had to sleep at a hospital 5 days and he had to be there from 7pm til 7am.

“Dem chicks are ash and I’m lotion”. I think Emancipation of Mimi was one of her better albums – Circles, Stay the Night, and Joy Ride are my favorites from that album.

I did have the most random dates from my online dating experiences. Because of online dating, I have come up with few rules:
    1. No dinners. I don’t want to have an awkward dinner if we don’t hit it off.
    2. Bring cash. If the date is crappy, I do not want to wait forever and a day for the check to arrive, then wait to sign the debit/credit card receipt. One date, I excused myself to the rest room, payed my server, and bounced. Rude yes, but the date was a bit of a racist. The date was so bad that if our date was during the cold NYC winter, I would have left my coat at the restaurant.
    3. Have a couple of drinks before the date. I drink, so if you can’t roll with me buzzed then it won’t work out.
    4. No politics.

  4. Sounds like a good week, especially for post epic race:) enjoy the fair!
I’m going to a concert tomorrow- one I didn’t even know about, lol. It’ll probably be great as I have zero expectations.
