Random Thoughts Thursday.

Happy Thursday you all! I really wanted to say YA’LL there, so the ‘you all’ was for my readers up north. You are welcome. It’s almost Friday!! It really feels like this week has kind of flown by for some reason. And of course I’ve got some random thoughts and rants for this week! So herrre we go.

Did anybody watch ‘Martin’ back in the day? I swear that was the best sitcom EVER.

Speaking of cheesy 90s sitcoms, I have been really into 90s pop music this week. Like running while rocking out to my tunes like there is no tomorrow. Yes, I listened to both Ace of Base and the Backstreet Boys this week. Absolutely no shame at all.

For some reason I am feeling like I am not seeing enough pumpkin/fall things in the stores lately. I went to Whole Foods specifically for fall flavored tea and what did I find y’all? Absolutely NOTHING. Whole Foods, you are letting me down. Time to go to Trader Joe’s. I know they will have my back.

We are back to summer like temps the next few days and it is putting me through an emotional rollercoaster. It will be in the 90s on the day I go to the fair this weekend. Why, Texas – just why? I have a feeling I’m going to have to make Friday afternoon a pool day though. Hey, at least I can get one more pool day in before the cold snap comes back again.

I am too excited about getting me some cotton candy and doing all of the fun things at the fair. It only happens once a year, folks. Oh and you know I will be stopping by the WINE GARDEN. Praise Jesus.

This is how excited I get about the State Fair of Texas and fair things.

Runners (mostly talking to my single readers, but married folks chime in too) how do you feel about dating non runners vs runners like yourselves? I think there are pros and cons to both. For instance it’s awesome when you both share the same type of sport and can go on and on talking about it without sounding like a complete douche. But sometimes it’s nice to have different hobbies. Hmm…so yes, being back on the dating scene has been interesting lately.

How is your week going? Any rants to share with the group?

  1. To answer your runners dating other runners question, I think running would be a great hobby to share with your significant other (as long as neither person felt obligated to do every single run with the other). Sometimes you gotta just get out there alone! But other times it’d be nice having a go-to running buddy.

  2. I have always liked dating runners, though I’ve learned not to date an elite runner again. I want a guy who will run but will also eat something delicious on occasion and not look askance at me when I do! Lol
I’m glad you’re dating is going well! Mine has been off so far:(

  3. You can’t go wrong with Ace of Base. Now I have “The Sign” stuck in my head.

I’ve been living in VA for 17 years now and my “y’all” still isn’t right. It seems so uncomfortable and so unnatural. I’ll get there someday.

  4. Dating runners vs non runners: I’m dating a non-runner, though we started dating by him trying to come running with me! We trained for a 5k together, and by race day we were official. That was enough for him and I’ve never run with him since! He says he’s “not good at it”. I was a little bummed by that, but now (5 years later) I like having something that’s mine. Sometimes I worry that I bore him with too many details, but he asks questions about my runs and races and swears it’s not boring. 😉 Even as a non-runner, he’s still a good accountibilibuddy.

    • Awesome. I think it’s so key to have someone in your life, even if they don’t run, that is wonderful and supportive of something that is such an important part of who you are. Sounds like you have yourself a keeper! 🙂

  5. I’m married (but we once dated! :P) and in the beginning he ran with me, but in the end it was just more frustrating than helpful. He’s exactly a foot taller than me with really long legs, and he easily outpaces me, which frustrates him because he has to run slow to be with me, or frustrates me because we go running “together” but he ends up 3 miles ahead of me.

Something to think about when your dating a runner, do you have a similar gait/level of fitness, or are you cool with just running your own separate ways?
