Summer List.

Hiya there!! Well it is that time again…summer LIST time! And since the this lovely season has arrived I thought I’d share the things I’m loving right now. I am so looking forward to the sunshine, weekends filled with great friends – pool parties and good vibes overall. All about it.

Things I’m currently…

Eating: All of the sushi rolls. Actually my most fave sushi as of late is the spicy yellowtail. I am actually obsessed with this place close to my job so “sushi Mondays” is quickly becoming a thing. Best way to unwind from the workday.

Drinking: Massive jugs of water…unsweetened tea…sauv blanc or a crisp white wine for nights on the patio.

Practicing: Always practicing staying in the present. I’m so used to having to be prepared for my next move (I blame teaching fitness classes at the gym for this) So being present sometimes is not very easy for me. I work at it everyday.

Mastering: Turning my MIND off at night. I’ve just discovered the Headspace app. I also love YouTube videos that have restorative yoga and calming things like that before bed. And for me NO TV and no lights on at bed! I don’t even know how people sleep with the TV on. Ha.

Learning: To be okay with not taking on too much. Right now I’m only teaching two classes at the gym during the work week (after my 9-5) and seriously this schedule for me could not be more perfect. All about that BALANCE, baby.

Trying: To laugh at myself more. Or to just laugh more in general.

Playing: …with my fun running friends!! Seriously y’all I have the most amazing runner friends. They are all THE MOST fun. We went floating on the river this past weekend and had an absolute blast. Then this weekend is RUN MY ‘HOOD and more pool party fun. Love.

Finishing: …my exploration of all of the fun cultural things to do in DFW. I am definitely an art museum lover and so many good ones are popping up around here. Must hit up more this summer for sure.

Reading: The Andy Cohen Diaries. I actually keep meaning to finish this book and never do and now it’s collecting dust in my closet. Must get it out and go to the pool and dive in.

Remembering: To do some form of yoga daily. Actually my favorite yoga pose to do (that I try and do daily) is pigeon pose. So good for those tight runner’s hips.

Wearing: Always rompers…and jumpsuits. Goodness, I love me a sassy sexy jumpsuit when I go out on the town.

Cooking: Anything crisp and light. When I’m actually cooking – grilled or stir fry stuff is my jam.

Working: LOTS. This is the summer of working, truly. Getting my money up for some traveling this fall. My 10 year work anniversary (!) is in August. So, I’ve got 3 weeks of vacation coming my way. Hallelujah and praise Jesus for that.

Traveling: By foot. Doing some training for the Habanero 50k then my 100 miler after that in Louisiana. Trail running, Cajun style.

Wanting: Copious amount of poolside time, and ALL the bikinis.

What is on your summer list?

Random Thoughts Thursday.

Hello…it is the Christmas edition of RANDOM THOUGHTS Thursday! This is the day I share my random rants, raves and confessions with you.

Side note. Every time I think of the word “thoughts” I always want to spell it another way.

If you didn’t get the joke, then you just didn’t get it…ha.

Anyway…let’s get to the randomness this week!

If you missed my Weds Spin Playlist this week you may want to grab it for your holiday workouts. It is festive and there are a lot of high energy Christmas tracks on there. Love it.

SOMEONE PLEASE send help. We are in decadent foods overdrive at work this week. I normally stay far away from the breakroom but a coworker makes these from scratch for us, every year. I had one of each. And now I am DONE.

I guess I can say it is fueling the 10+ miles of running I am doing today.

Yep…today is a double run day and I am running the Jingle Bell Run 5k tonight!! I already ran this morning with my run club so it should just be a fun run. I didn’t do this race last year so now I am kind of looking forward to it.

It does seem like this time of year people are MUCH nicer. I’ve encountered a lot of nice people this week for some reason.

Even though people are nicer, I feel like my road rage is even worse right now because everyone is out shopping right after work and it is so much traffic everywhere. I think I’ve been like 5 minutes late to everything this week.

AND…that is why I like morning workouts. Even though I still workout at night. But you know, because I get paid to do it and stuff. Teaching the spin class and such.

Also…the sauna is my HAPPY PLACE right now. There is nothing more satisfying than sitting in a hot sauna after being outside in the cold. Heaven.

What festive things are you doing this week? Anything random to tell the group?

Weds Spin Playlist.

I’ve lately been thinking about actually putting the Weds Spin Playlist on hiatus, simply because I don’t really get a ton of feedback on it, and not quite sure how it well it is received with my readers. I know I have a TON of readers who are runners and who are more interested in the running part of my life. But my side hustle as a fitness instructor is also a big part of my life so I love sharing that as well. I think it would be great if some of you could let me know if you benefit at all from me posting these. You could even shoot me an email at ChelsHU02@yahoo.com and let me know if even you are not a commenter. I know there are some lurkers out there. teehee.

Anyway, let’s get straight to the playlist! As always check me out on Spotify under thedancingrunner as well as my latest schedule to see where I am teaching spin cycle classes next here.

Random Thoughts Tuesday.

So since it is Thanksgiving week I thought we would do ‘random thoughts’ on Tuesday! Fun right?! Lots of things to talk about this week. Let’s get to it.

Black Santa is making a comeback back in the office. He is in good spirits spreading all of the holiday cheer.

I am craving all things peppermint at the moment. Peppermint mochas with almond milk from Starbucks lately are my jam.

How early is too early to put up the Christmas tree? Do you put yours up before Thanksgiving or after?!? I am thinking I’m going to have to make my pink Christmas tree happen this week. That may be a fun night project.

Are you running a Turkey Trot this year? I always do a longish run on Thanksgiving morning. I like to call it the Chelsea Trot. It is always a good time. I’ve run Turkey Trots in the past but the families and strollers and doggies are always in my way.

I really need to catch up with my Real Housewives. I feel like I am starting to fall behind but I’m not sure I am going to enjoy RHONJ this year. Honestly I’m kind of bored with their storylines. I am glad that Siggy is gone though. I feel like New Jersey was so good back in the day. Like in Teresa’s table flipping days. Trainwreck central but you’ve gotta love it.

I’m loving this how to on how to curl your hair with a flat iron. I can’t stress the importance of having a good quality flat iron. I mean seriously it has been life changing – I’ve had mine for years and it has saved me so much money from being in the salon forever.

The weather in Texas has been really lovely – chilly in the mornings for running and then the sun comes out later in the day. Last weekend temps were in the 60s and 70s. We need more of that so I can wear my short cute dresses with my boots and such. Gotta love living down south in the fall and winter.

What are some of your random thoughts this week?

TGIFriday Faves- Pinspirations.

Heyyy there happy Friday! Hope you have some fun plans in store. I am super excited about all of the fun fall festivals just around the corner. Grapefest is this weekend and it will without a doubt be a good one! Running and vino…heaven.

So today I thought I would share some Pinterest-y things I’ve been loving lately! I’ve still been pinning things that I love and things that inspire me. My favorites. You know me I am all about the faves.

HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY!!

Tell me what things are inpsiring you lately? One Pinterest or elsewhere!!

Random Thoughts a Day Early.

Just a few random thoughts, a day early…since I will be off for the long luxurious holiday weekend! As most of you know…I usually do this post on Thursday but I will be going on a short hiatus for Labor Day! Hope you enjoy yours.

I have to say I’m absolutely in love with my curly summer hair. Dare I say…MAYBE, just maybe I’ll extend this look out for the fall? It’s just ridiculously easy and I get all of the compliments. Some lady even asked me at the pool the other day if she could touch my hair. LOL…usually I would object, but she asked so nicely so I gave her a pass.

Confession, I had watermelon for dinner twice this week. IT WAS AWESOME. So hydrating honestly after running in the heat.

THIS POST below on the Revel Race page. Um, did we not just talk about this!? Freaking hilarious. Love it.

I have listened to The Chainsmoker’s “Side Effects” about 20 times today. The music video is EVERYTHING also. You must watch. Love love love.

My Running is Cheaper Than Therapy coffee warmer mug thingy. What do you call these things? Koozies? Anyway, I keep it at my desk so it is a nice reminder when I’m having a stressful day. Then I smile and all is well with the world.

That’s all for this week! Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend.

What’s on tap for your Labor Day?
Pool time, more pool time, perhaps a margarita is also in my future.

Random Thoughts Thursday.

Hello! Again this week is just insanity and I am ready for it to be over. I need my sunshine and my relax time. Just keeping it all the way real. Thank goodness I am counting down the days till my RACE-cation. Anyways. Let’s get to the random thoughts this week, shall we?

Did you all see this video of Ray J and every few seconds he moves his hat around and they keep cutting the camera back to his hat being a different place on his head? I swear I was cracking up at this yesterday. I love the internet. Needed that laugh.

Also, this. Because it is oh so true (see video above)

Apparently there are RUNNERS that run with donkeys and it is basically a race, in Colorado? Have you heard of this?! My running buddy does these races all of the time. Yes, it is actually a thing. Mind blowing.

We have a NEW speaker system in my cycle class! We had to fight so hard to get it and now finally the day has come! I am very excited to teach tonight. Those of you who have been keeping up know how frustrated I’ve been.

I have literally been so busy this week work wise that yesterday I just came home and straight passed out. I did an evening run (getting in my double run day), came home and showered, and laid down and did not wake up till this morning. No real dinner or anything. Some days sleep wins over a big meal. This is why I need a maid or a butler or accountability coach of some sort to remind me to eat.

I know…but a girl can dream…

Since this week has been so packed with work I truly need friend time. This weekend that will be happening.

Tell me some of your random thoughts this week!

Random Thoughts Thursday.

Hi there! Welcome to the randomness that is random thoughts Thursday. Let’s get straight to it with the (running and non running related) rants and raves this week…just cuz we can and it’s fun.

It truly feels like THROWBACK Thursday today. As I type I’m listening to “Ghetto Superstar” on my Spotify. Anyone remember that song? Whatever happened to my girl Mya?? I so had a girl crush on her back in the day. Loved all of her songs for sure.

That fact makes me one to kind of create a #TBT playlist on the spot for teaching tonight’s spin class. Sometimes I will throw a bunch of random songs on there from the 90’s. My Irving classes love the throwback hits.

Speaking of spin class…we are dealing with more technical difficulties…YET AGAIN. Yeah, remember when I told you about the stereo issues we were having? Well they are back again. Tonight they are providing us with a portable speaker though while they make the stereo replacement. Good thing because I’m literally about to go AWF the next time this happens. I ain’t a killa, but don’t push me. Yep I’m all gangster like that.

Which brings me to people just saying whatever they want all up in the comments on Instagram…y’all I have no shame at all. I will block you so fast you will not see it coming. I love you but I know how to use the block button. So, be nice. Thanks much. Love you mean it.

I went out last night and may or may not have stayed out a little bit past my bedtime but had the BEST conversation with the most awesome friends over delicious sushi. It was kind of the best thing ever. You know I usually go to bed early. But, YOLO.

What do you think about Cardi B naming her kid, Kulture? I think it’s kind of a cute name. I mean, you’ve gotta love Cardi B right. It’s like she is so darn cute you can do no wrong. This baby pic of her makes me smile, every time.

What is on your mind this week?? Come at me with the randomness!!

Mystery Blogger Award.

Okay, y’all…(and yes I said y’all – I’m a Texan! Get used to it) it has been a HOT MINUTE since I’ve done one of these survey type of posts. You know, the ones back in the day we used to do all the time? Blogger awards. Yes, love ‘em! Anyway, one of my favorite bloggers right now, Charlene, nominated me for the “mystery blogger award”! Thanks lady!!! So those of you that are new here, it will give us an opportunity to get to know one another, a little better! So…let’s get right to the questions! And I have a few folks that I would like to get to know better and nominate! So keep on reading…

Here are the rules…

-Thank whoever nominated you and include a link to their blog
-Tell your readers three things about yourself
-Nominate bloggers you feel deserve the award
-Answer the questions from the person who nominated you
-Ask your nominees 5 questions of your choice, with one weird or funny one
-Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog

Let’s go! Here are three things about myself that I’d like to tell you today, in random order.

I can be a little OCD, about very random things. Like for instance, when it comes to running + my weekly mileage. I am a NUMBERS JUNKIE. I love going slightly over the mile marker when I run. Also, I hate when something ends on .99 or “9 miles” because I feel like the run is incomplete. I mean, you ran 9 miles but come on. 1 more mile and you hit triple digits!? Hey, it’s the little things.

As far as food goes- most of the time I prefer savory things over sweet. My favorite brunch items are always BAE (bacon and eggs) over french toast or pancakes. I am also obsessed with all things eggs benedict.

I always have to have my nails done. Call me a girlie girl if you want. Usually the day before I run the Hachie 50 miler (an ultra race I’ve done for the last 3 years) I HAVE to get my nails done. Priorities, right? It is like a tradition. Call it a good luck charm if you will.

Now to the five questions Charlene has asked me…

How long did you think about starting a blog before you did it? Wow, good question. I started blogging some years ago…mostly because I felt like a had a LOT to say, and growing up as an only child sometimes I find that I’m always in my own head about stuff. So I constantly feel the need to just LET IT OUT. Whether it is about running or just life issues, I feel like blogging is my own personal corner of the world where I can share with mostly complete strangers but I’m always surprised when people I actually know in real life care enough to read my blog. It’s quite fun.

-What’s your main motivation for blogging your way though life? Mostly since this is a running blog, I enjoy being able to chronicle my races and training from week to week. For me it’s also great to be able to look back and see what worked and what really didn’t. I also like reading other’s blogs and the blogging community in general. Everyone has so much goodness to share and I really enjoy seeing what is on the mind of other people. Be it in training for an endurance event or just day to day life.

-What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten? WOW – I mean I am a foodie and a Yelper. I’ve eaten so many delicious things in my lifetime. I would have to say right now the best thing I’ve eaten and could eat over and over again is Korean food. The dish I am LOVING right now is bibimbap. I am actually kind of sad that I’m just now discovering how much I enjoy this dish! It has ALL of the things I love the most. Including rice and eggs and veggies and yummy Korean spices. For the win.

-What’s the one thing you need to accomplish in 2018 for this year to feel like a success? Probably knock out my next 100 mile race. And to PR in that distance. Running 100 miles was hands down the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. And for some reason I want to do it again. Sadistic, I know.

-What is the dumbest thing you’ve ever bought? Again…so many things in this category. HA. At the time I will say a pair of fall boots I bought on Amazon knowing that they were too small in size but I wanted them SO BADLY. And they were half a size too small but I thought perhaps I could squish my feet in them anyway…dumb dumb dumb. LOL.

Alright. That was fun! Here are the folks I’m nominating next! Do the survey or just answer the questions below. I won’t judge.

Kwame ~ Run There, Drink That
Tara ~ Tara Runs the World
Charlotte ~ Journey of a Tigress

Here are my questions for my nominees!

-What is your proudest moment in your life thus far?
-If you had to post one more picture on social media and then never post again for the rest of your life, what would it be a picture of?
-What is your favorite summer beverage (alcoholic or non alcoholic) besides water?
-How long have you been blogging?
-What is the best blog post that you’ve ever posted?

Everyone else! Tell me something random about your day today? Or just answer whatever questions on this page you want. Even if I didn’t nominate you. i’m easy.
