Random Thoughts Thursday.

Happy Thursday you all! I really wanted to say YA’LL there, so the ‘you all’ was for my readers up north. You are welcome. It’s almost Friday!! It really feels like this week has kind of flown by for some reason. And of course I’ve got some random thoughts and rants for this week! So herrre we go.

Did anybody watch ‘Martin’ back in the day? I swear that was the best sitcom EVER.

Speaking of cheesy 90s sitcoms, I have been really into 90s pop music this week. Like running while rocking out to my tunes like there is no tomorrow. Yes, I listened to both Ace of Base and the Backstreet Boys this week. Absolutely no shame at all.

For some reason I am feeling like I am not seeing enough pumpkin/fall things in the stores lately. I went to Whole Foods specifically for fall flavored tea and what did I find y’all? Absolutely NOTHING. Whole Foods, you are letting me down. Time to go to Trader Joe’s. I know they will have my back.

We are back to summer like temps the next few days and it is putting me through an emotional rollercoaster. It will be in the 90s on the day I go to the fair this weekend. Why, Texas – just why? I have a feeling I’m going to have to make Friday afternoon a pool day though. Hey, at least I can get one more pool day in before the cold snap comes back again.

I am too excited about getting me some cotton candy and doing all of the fun things at the fair. It only happens once a year, folks. Oh and you know I will be stopping by the WINE GARDEN. Praise Jesus.

This is how excited I get about the State Fair of Texas and fair things.

Runners (mostly talking to my single readers, but married folks chime in too) how do you feel about dating non runners vs runners like yourselves? I think there are pros and cons to both. For instance it’s awesome when you both share the same type of sport and can go on and on talking about it without sounding like a complete douche. But sometimes it’s nice to have different hobbies. Hmm…so yes, being back on the dating scene has been interesting lately.

How is your week going? Any rants to share with the group?

Random Thoughts Thursday.

Happy Thursday to you! I don’t know about you but I am more than ready for Friday and the weekend. But before we get to the end of the week I have a few random rants, thoughts and such to discuss. So let’s get straight to it!

A pic from this morning’s run. Oh so lovely.

I have been roasting chickpeas like a wild woman lately. Currently these babies are totally my favorite snack. I put a ton of smoked paprika on ‘em (thank you for that recommendation, Rebecca!) and then I watch mindless television at night while I pop ‘em in my mouth. It is my favorite thing.

Has anyone been watching the Real Housewives of Dallas? I am all about the guilty pleasure TV lately. And love that its in my neck of the woods so I know just about all of the places that they go to for brunch and etc. lol. Brandi and Stephanie make me laugh, they are such hot messes. I also actually really like D’Andra. Now this one below, snooty valley girl Kameron…she can go.

I am running this trail race at the end of October. I actually won a free race entry when I won 1st female at the Piney Woods 100k. Woohoo! Oktoberfest running and cervezas afterwards?! Count me in.

A brand spanking new new Whole Foods Market just opened in my ‘hood. And it is quickly becoming my new hangout spot.

Sip and shop $3 mimosas at the store BAR every Sunday? Hey, I don’t care if my paycheck is in danger, I am all in.

It really has NOT been feeling like fall down in Texas this week. We have had temps pushing to the 90s, & the humidity has been through the roof. And it is just literally one hot mess. WHYY Texas?! Don’t you know this is like my most favorite time of year??? Fix it, Jesus.

Me too, Holly. Me too.

But I tell you what training in these temps has really made me one strong runner. I can pretty much run in any kind of conditions at this point, and that…feels oh so good.

Tell me about your random rants and thoughts this week!

TGIFriday Faves.

Happy Friday! Goodness gracious great balls of fire – is it cocktail hour yet? Haha. I am definitely ready for some long running, playing in the sun and relaxing this weekend!!

Let’s get to this week’s faves!

-I scored a sweet deal on these Pure Flow 6’s from Brooks not long ago and I am absolutely loving them! The peacock design makes my soul happy.

Mediterranean sweet potatoes? Sign me up. Cool spin on one of my favorite foods.

Running acronyms to know. Brush up on your lingo.

Is social media helping or hurting your running? Love it. That is real talk right there.

-My nike compression shorts. They are perfect for quick weekday runs. I need a pair in every color.

That’s all for this week! Hope you have an amazing weekend.

What are you up to this weekend?
Running, relaxing, play time with friends as per usual. Also I need a little brunching in my life.

Random Thoughts Thursday.

Welcome to Thursday! Almost the weekend…it is so close I can practically taste it. So since I feel like there is not enough randomness on this blog already I thought we’d start a random thoughts Thursday. So why don’t you play along?

Here are some random thoughts rolling around in my head at the present moment. I apologize in advance…oops I mean, I hope you enjoy.

I really enjoy running trails after a long day at work when I am able to get out there. There’s nothing more fun than getting dirty with my trail pals and enjoying some icy cold beverages after. Plus it is getting cooler out so really it is the most perfect time of year for some trail adventures and to be one with nature.

I have a random obsession lately with string cheese. And I feel like I am 6 years old again. And I have to literally take it apart in string form. Also I have trust issues with people who bite straight into the string cheese without pulling it apart. Just saying.

Can we talk about how frustrating it is as an instructor to not have a working mic or when the music goes OUT when you teach a spin class full of people at the gym? Now you know my constant struggle.

-Like seriously, teaching spin class without music is like watching paint dry.

And…as I just typed that rant above, the Pharrell song “Happy” just started playing on my iTunes at work. It’s clearly the universe telling me everything is going to be okay. Woo sah.

I am planning on a random Friday off very soon so I can basically do absolutely nothing but my own selfish pursuits…you know, like get a pedicure, watching mindless TV, trail running with my personal trainer friend who always has Fridays off. It is going to be absolutely fabulous.

It is September and I could not be happier for upcoming fall festivals…yes that means the State Fair of Texas and GRAPEFEST my favorite wine festival of all…give me the vino and life will be just peachy.

Tell me something random about your week! Do you have any fall festivals in your area coming up?

Confessions, Things I’m Loving and Such.

I have a slight obsession at the moment with sparkling water. Passionfruit and cucumber melon have to top the list of the 2 faves. Not sure why but drinking bubbles in the summer time just makes me happy.

I subbed an early morning spin class this week and it made me feel pretty nostalgic. When I first started teaching I taught on Mondays early in the mornings and did so for about 3 years. Now I just teach 3 nights a week and really love my cycle party happy hours. But the morning folks are so sweet it made me miss it a little bit. For now I think I’ll just stick to my morning runs and just teach at the gym at night.

I am really thankful that I’ve fallen in love with trail running. After being a devout road runner for so many years (which I still love) it is fun to get off the beaten path sometimes. Especially when you are putting in so much mileage training for ultras. Sometimes you just need a change of pace.

Our family dog Brady is absolutely the cutest is he not? He just got a haircut for the summer. I love his little random white paw with the black paw. Such a cutie pie.

I’m sorry in advance for those of you that sell Lipsense but that ish is seriously overrated. I mean why am I paying so much for lipgloss, because it stays on!? Sometimes I don’t want my gloss to stay on that long. Also, I feel like I have alcohol on my lips it stains them so much. No thank you. And I have a tube I never used so I gave it away. You can keep it.

Lately I have been loving the sunsets almost more than the sunrises. Not sure why that is. I will always and forever be a morning runner but there is just something about the sunset and evening runs (of course on double run days) that I am feeling lately.

Hammocks on balconies are kind of a thing now in my ‘hood. I swear everyone has one and now I want one. How fun would it be to kick it outside on your balcony in a hammock and read a book? I need to make this happen.

I have Friday completely off this week and it is definitely much needed. I plan on getting in as much pool time as possible on my long weekend.

What are some confessions, random rants, or things you’re loving today?

TGIFriday Faves.

Hello there and happy Friday to you! It is payday Friday to be exact. So that is a reason to celebrate! I’ve got some running, brunching and playing in the sunshine on the agenda. Good fun!

Without further ado let’s get to this week’s faves!

-Playing on the trails this past week with buds. I am starting to make it a mid week tradition.

4 times you don’t want to run, but should anyway. Preach.

Top 10 running drills for speed and efficiency. I’m all about the butt kicks and the high knees.

21 not boring chicken meal prep ideas. I love mixing things up Mexican style but I’ll have to try the Greek one.

-Blood orange cider. Super refreshing post run! Just a hint of orange goes a long way.

That’s all for this week! Have an amazing weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? Anyone stay-actioning it or traveling somewhere fun?
Staycation FTW.

TGIFriday Faves.

Can I get a yaaaas for Friday?! I’m not sure if people even still say that anymore but I’m saying it. So there. TGIF!! Hope you have a fun weekend planned.

Let’s get to this week’s faves!

12 cheap destination races. I love this concept! The Brokebakes one sounds cool. LOL. Also shout out to Carrollton, Texas.

-Just pool time in general. We have had a ton of rain this week so I’m looking forward to some more sunshine time soon.

-This sky. The reflection off the water was just amazing on Thursday morning’s 10 mile run.

Your new running glossary. Yes and yes some more. Love. Thank you, Brooks Running.

That’s all for this week! Have a lovely Friday.

What’s on tap for your weekend?
Running, hitting up some trails, chill time with good peeps.

Pinspirations Lately.

Hey ya’ll! Today has been a whirlwind of a day already but thankfully it is winding down. I don’t know about you but for me blogging is such a therapy of sorts. A creative outlet, if you will. As a writer (I work in broadcast television for my career and have done so for many years – I don’t talk about it often!), writing has always come so natural to me. It is truly what I love. Outside of running, of course. Ha!

I also love me some Pinterest. I did a post on this not too long ago but here are some things I’ve been pinning and inspired by as of late.

You can find me on Pinterest here. Let’s be friends!

Pinners, what is inspiring you lately?

TGIFriday Faves.

Hey there and happiest of Fridays to you! I just kind of feel like this day calls for some dancing GIF magic. Friday is always the best day for a dance party!

The gif of little Drake from back in the day? My absolute favorite.

Let’s get to this week’s faves!

-Pool time and grillin’ & chillin’ with the bae. There is absolutely nothing better than skewers on the grill…absolute YUM.

The weird and wonderful things about runners. Love love.

Pineapple flip flops…I think I must track these down ASAP.

John Green discusses his take on cheering on other runners. I can dig it.

-This. Because it is oh so true.

Cheers to a fabulous Friday!

What are you up to this weekend?
Pool time, running, relaxing, Mama’s Day celebrating.

Virtual Coffee Date.

Hey there! Hope your Thursday is rockin’ and rollin’. Or should I say Friday eve! I thought it would be a good day for a virtual coffee date. Or hey, wine or kombucha…whatever is your drink of choice. So pull up a seat, grab that beverage and let’s get it going.

If we were having a virtual coffee/wine/kombucha date, I’d tell you…

That work has been absolutely hectic and I am ready for a beach vacation. One of my besties, Tracy and I are headed down 45 south to Galveston this weekend for a race-cation! Hello Divas Half Marathon. As some of you know I am an ambassador for this race so it will be a good one. This is totally just a ‘fun run’ for me. We got an AirBnB condo right on the beach all to ourselves so it is going down. Perfect way to celebrate my pre birthday weekend (my b-day is April 26th).

I am actually so excited and ready to embrace turning 33 next week. I think being in your 30s is such an empowering, amazing time in your life and I really feel like I’ve grown into my own skin, so to speak. I’ve gone through so many ups and downs the last few years but it feels amazing to be in the place I’m in right now, at this very moment.

Have you tried the Cherry Blossom wine from Trader Joe’s? It’s such a great pinot noir with an excellent price tag too. If you have a TJ’s in your area, you must check it out.

I’ve been loving going to different parks to explore after work lately. It is kind of like my way to unwind from the work day when I am not teaching classes at the gym.

For all of my guilty pleasure Bravo TV watchers, did you watch the RHOA reunion? It was so juicy…4 part series so I am looking forward to catching up on part 2 when it airs. Also…Sweet Home Oklahoma. Hilarious show. I will be catching up on that tonight so do not tell me about the latest episode.

What would you tell me if we were having a coffee/wine/kombucha date?
