TGIFriday Faves.

Hey there and happiest of Fridays to you! I just kind of feel like this day calls for some dancing GIF magic. Friday is always the best day for a dance party!

The gif of little Drake from back in the day? My absolute favorite.

Let’s get to this week’s faves!

-Pool time and grillin’ & chillin’ with the bae. There is absolutely nothing better than skewers on the grill…absolute YUM.

The weird and wonderful things about runners. Love love.

Pineapple flip flops…I think I must track these down ASAP.

John Green discusses his take on cheering on other runners. I can dig it.

-This. Because it is oh so true.

Cheers to a fabulous Friday!

What are you up to this weekend?
Pool time, running, relaxing, Mama’s Day celebrating.

Virtual Coffee Date.

Hey there! Hope your Thursday is rockin’ and rollin’. Or should I say Friday eve! I thought it would be a good day for a virtual coffee date. Or hey, wine or kombucha…whatever is your drink of choice. So pull up a seat, grab that beverage and let’s get it going.

If we were having a virtual coffee/wine/kombucha date, I’d tell you…

That work has been absolutely hectic and I am ready for a beach vacation. One of my besties, Tracy and I are headed down 45 south to Galveston this weekend for a race-cation! Hello Divas Half Marathon. As some of you know I am an ambassador for this race so it will be a good one. This is totally just a ‘fun run’ for me. We got an AirBnB condo right on the beach all to ourselves so it is going down. Perfect way to celebrate my pre birthday weekend (my b-day is April 26th).

I am actually so excited and ready to embrace turning 33 next week. I think being in your 30s is such an empowering, amazing time in your life and I really feel like I’ve grown into my own skin, so to speak. I’ve gone through so many ups and downs the last few years but it feels amazing to be in the place I’m in right now, at this very moment.

Have you tried the Cherry Blossom wine from Trader Joe’s? It’s such a great pinot noir with an excellent price tag too. If you have a TJ’s in your area, you must check it out.

I’ve been loving going to different parks to explore after work lately. It is kind of like my way to unwind from the work day when I am not teaching classes at the gym.

For all of my guilty pleasure Bravo TV watchers, did you watch the RHOA reunion? It was so juicy…4 part series so I am looking forward to catching up on part 2 when it airs. Also…Sweet Home Oklahoma. Hilarious show. I will be catching up on that tonight so do not tell me about the latest episode.

What would you tell me if we were having a coffee/wine/kombucha date?

Meet the Blogger Questionnaire.

I was able to get in a glorious run this AM with the run club…it was quite chilly I have to say but the day has shaped up to be a beautiful one! 78 degrees practically feels like freakin’ springtime. Thank you Texas and mother nature.

So we are getting back to the basics today! Since it is a new year and we may have some new readers joining us I thought I’d do a fun little ‘about me’ type of survey. I have to thank Bethany over at Simmering Mind for the idea. Hope you enjoy!

Name: Chelsea Ross
Age: 32…or is that 21? Nah, 32. Like a fine wine I get better with age. Flirty thirties is the best.

Solo Artist: See ‘band’ answer above.

Place: The open roads or a beautiful trail to get my run on.

Subject: All things running, fitness, beauty and nutrition.

Actress: Jennifer Lawrence

Schooling: Graduated college in 2006 (I’m OLD -in fact I’m so old I had to correct myself just now because I put ’02 initially instead of ’06!! Good gracious) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism. Best decision I’ve ever made. I’m in love with my job working behind the scenes as a Promotions Producer in television. I write promos and commercials for Christian television. (I know, I know, I NEVER talk about work! But yes, fitness is my side hustle. TV is my career. Now you know.)

BF: Best friend? Boyfriend?? Not sure what this means. I am currently single after having been with someone for close to 5 years. It was not an easy breakup (it has been a super hot MINUTE too since the breakup–so I’m truly okay!! Some of you may remember) but I wish him the best. I’ve been off and on dating since then and I actually love it. Living life, meeting people, having fun. The end.

Political ideology: HA…we won’t get into all of that. Moving right along…

Tattoos: Sun on my lower back. It’s a tramp stamp. Don’t judge. I was 18 and young and silly! Sometimes I forget it’s even there.

Piercings: Double piercing on both ears.

Languages: English, took a few Spanish classes…I took a French class in college and it was super hard! I need to get back to trying to learn it again soon.

Reason behind your blog name: When I first started the blog I was teaching dance classes at 24 Hour Fitness, it was my first gig as a group fitness instructor. I loved it at the time and also was training for a marathon. So I thought ‘thedancingrunner’ was a fitting name. I teach spin class/indoor cycling now and have since taken a hiatus from teaching dance. BUT…I still dance on my BIKE so I kept the name.

Why you blog: I love connecting with like minded people from all over the world…and promoting fitness and having FUN while working hard. Yes, it is possible to do both!

When It’s Cold Outside…Runners Be Like…

We all know how easy it is to fall into excuses during this time of year. It’s too cold, it’s too windy, there’s snot coming out of my nose (hey just keeping it real), my bed is too warm etc. I found some cold weather running funnies on Pinterest that explain my exact thoughts sometimes. To be honest, I love the cold but the early dark mornings can be tough! HA. That just makes you that much more of a badass though if you get it done.

In no particular order…

Are you getting your run on today?
Done and done.

What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Pinspirations Lately.

Happy December to you! I thought I’d share some of my Pinterest inspirations I’ve been loving as of late. I don’t know about you but I will always and forever be a Pinterest fan. Although I have to say the app itself has undergone some changes lately. There’s just something so therapeutic though about pinning. I know some of ya’ll out there feel me.

Follow me on Pinterest also to get the latest of what I’m loving 24/7 365. Or something like that.

You Know You’re Dating a Runner When…

-Their idea of actual fun is getting up at 4 & 5 in the morning to go for miles and miles.

-And don’t even expect them to be available for anything on a Saturday until about 9 am.

-They will need a power nap also, especially after a 20 miler. So leave them be. They will be cranky if that power nap does not happen.

-The most amazing thing you could do as the boyfriend/spouse/significant other is to bring them mimosas and/or coffee after a long run on the weekends. You will be the real MVP.

-You look in their closet and it’s nothing but running clothes and/or shoes. Okay, and maybe some cute dresses and heels tucked in the corner…for those days when they want to actually get all fancy and cute.

-They sign up for races in beautiful destinations…because hello, that is what RACE-cations are for.

-They are not shy about eating CARBS…hey fellas, you want to take her out to eat a burger? That runner girl will eat a damn burger with you. And still look amazing in a cocktail dress. Can I get an amen?

Add to the list! You know you’re dating a runner when…

TGIFriday Faves.

Hi there! It’s finally Friday!! I have a few things going on this weekend…back to back long runs including a sunset half marathon on Sunday! I am feeling good after 26.2 not long ago and ready to get back on the race wagon. It will be a fun run with my running club but definitely a good time. Plus some festivities mixed in with all of that. Can’t wait.

Let’s get to this week’s faves!

Cranberry chai sangria? Whoa. Want.

10 runner milestones. Haha I love the one about ‘holding your own’ in the running store.

-Real Housewives of Atlanta coming back on. Yes…my work week catching up on shows just got that much happier.

-One of my students giving me a Hershey’s kiss at the end of spin class the other day. It totally caught me off guard. What a sweet gesture. Literally.

That’s all for now! Have a great weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? Who is ready for Thanksgiving? Are you running a Turkey Trot?
I try and run a ‘Chelsea Trot’…aka a super long run before the festivities every year.

I Just Ran a Marathon…Now What? As Told by The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

So, for most of you marathon runners out there fall and winter time means racing season. We train for months and months in the summertime, enduring the heat and humidity for that special day. Running a marathon for a lot of us is like…giving birth. Not that I know how that feels or anything but hey…I can surely imagine. Blood, sweat and tears goes into training and when the race is finally said and done it leaves you thinking, now what? Well, never fear. The Real Housewives of Atlanta are here to help you figure out what you should do with your life now that training season has come to an end.

Rest and recover. Oh so important…like probably the most important thing you will read on this list. I tell you what I am probably the lamest person in my group of friends when it comes to being able to stay up late. That late night life is not really for me. But guess what I do not care. No shame. Get your rest, girl. And do not feel bad about it. You’ve put your body through the ringer and you need every little bit you can get. Recharge your batteries so you can get back out on those roads.

Cross train and do some other fun activities that aren’t running related. Cycle, swim, pick up a weight. Kickbox, dance, whatever. These things will help you not get burned out from running. I’ve stayed in love with running because I mix it up. I am at the gym 3 days a week teaching fitness classes and strength training. It honestly has made me a stronger runner overall and I’m very thankful for that.

Don’t worry too much about calories. I know, that is easier said than done. But nourish your body with good, wholesome foods. At least the first week following the marathon just focus on replenishing your body. You want a burger? Eat the damn burger. Have a glass of wine. Cheers.

Hydration is still important. The few weeks following make sure you step your water game up. I keep a huge jug at my desk and I just chug a lug all day long.

No Porsha…the non alcoholic kind.

Go easy on yourself physically…and mentally too. Sometimes my mind is a little bit in shambles as well after a race and I kind of just feel all over the place. Give your body and your brain time to heal and recover. I wouldn’t make any crazy major life decisions the week following a race especially. That is just me. I usually want to jump right back into training after 26.2 and sign up for ALL OF THE RACES. Give it a beat or two. You will be back in business before you know it.

When’s your next marathon? What are some things you enjoy doing when you’re not running?

Ish is Getting Real and Funny Runner e-Bibs.

Happy run this morning with the crew…fast finish miles are always the best kind of miles! 5 days left til the Marine Corps Marathon. I tell ya…ISH is about to get oh so real.

I feel pretty good this week…a little tightness here and there but after running 20 marathons I’m very familiar with all of that. Legs are feeling decent with the scale back in high (for me) mileage. I personally love running all of the miles. So as far as my runner EGO goes (haha) it is always very humbling when I am forced to run less. I do like being done with all of my runs this week in less than an hour. I’m just focusing on my hydration and nutrition…and also on my SLEEP. I’m hoping to get at least a little sleep on the plane too heading to D.C. I leave Friday and then will do my expo packet pickup thing and get to see my college buds. Cannot wait.

So since I’ve been going taper crazy and I need a distraction let’s laugh a little, shall we? I am loving all of these runner e-bibs on Pinterest. They are all oh so true.

And my personal favorite.

You know you’re a runner when…finish the sentence!

TGIFriday Faves.

Hi, hello and TGIF! It was a crisp and cool 50 something degrees this morning. Woohoo! I absolutely love it. Especially after dealing with this Texas Indian summer. Love me some fall.

Let’s get to this week’s faves!

Kombucha cider smash?! I must make this immediately. I love all things apple cider this time of year.

-Pretty flowers along the Katy Trail. I have to get out there more often for more miles. Love exploring all of the places to run in Dallas.

-All things Issa Raye. I’m obsessed with her new HBO show…and just catching on to her in general. Love.

15 true things…this girl and I are on the same wavelength. Especially number 4, 7, and 11.

-All things related to Trader Joe’s pumpkin butter. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t dip out of that jar with just a spoon this week. So freaking delicious.

Have a great weekend!

What are you up to this weekend? How are you celebrating Halloween this year?
By running 26.2 number 21! Marine Corps Marathon in 1 week here I come.
