The happiest of Fridays to you! I don’t know about you but this has been a long week of work and I’m ready to let my hair down a bit.

I see some running, kickin’ it the sunshine…and of course RACING involved! Bring on the Hottest Half. 13.1 in the sun. I will be running it on Sunday.

The race actually starts and ends at a brewery so that should be pretty cool too. Although I’m not a huge beer drinker…but you know, I’m sure I can find something afterwards to enjoy.

10 strange facts about runners. I seriously am loving all of these lists lately. And cheers to number 10 for sure.

11 undeniable reasons why fall is clearly better than summer. I am like a kid in a candy store when this season rolls around.

-Speaking of fall…yes I finally bit the bullet and signed up for the Pumpkin Spice 15k. Oh yeah, racing season is ramping back up!! It’s an inaugural race too so should be fun. I am not going to lie, the promise of a coffee mug had me sold.

-And yes, I’ve already busted out the pumpkin scents. They will be all over the house from now until about December 1st.

My cycle and strength class…it is a super fun class to teach on Mondays. We do a little cycling then get off the bike for a boot camp circuit. Yep, it’s definitely hard to get up so early but feels good when it’s over. Love pumping that iron and it has really been complimenting my running lately and making me feel powerful.

Embracing your ‘running’ type? I can dig it.

9 spaghetti squash recipes…oh yes it is that time again. I do miss me some fall and winter squash. Time to step my squash game up.

A Yummy Run and Pumpkin Pie Bars.

Yummy. I simply do not think there’s another word to describe this morning’s 7 mile run. It was yummy. Like chocolate cake on your birthday yummy. Simply delicious.

I love when it’s so chilly…you take a deep breath and then you can see it in the air. That’s when you know conditions are perfect for running.
Days like this just remind me just how much I love and need this outlet in my life.
I also love stretching and lying on the living room floor right after a run. Yes, I’m wearing the Chicago top again. Yes, I washed it before I wore it again. Promise.

Since this week it seems the only thing I’m making in the kitchen is pumpkin…I have another recipe for ya. Pumpkin pie bars…I promise you will love them.

Adapted from this recipe and of course I tweaked some of the items according to what I had in my cabinet.
What you’ll need:
-1 egg
-1 c. pumpkin puree
-1 tsp vanilla
-I banana, mashed
1/2 c. coconut flour
-1 tbsp peanut or almond butter
-2 tbsps agave
-1/2 tsp nutmeg
Mix ingredients and spread into a small square pan. Bake on 375 for 45-50 minutes. Cool, cut in squares/bars and serve!

Running, Orange Pumpkins and a Fun Fall Dish…Wknd Recap.

This morning I taught 55 minutes of sweatastic spin class. My Monday crew always represents and works hard! I even had some peeps from my Wednesday night class get up early to come cycle with me this morning. We woke the legs up with some hill repeats and sprint work. Great start to a new week.
Hope you all had a fun weekend! A huge *CONGRATS* to you all who rocked the Chicago Marathon on Sunday. I wore my favorite Nike top yesterday in honor of my Chi-town runners!! Chicago was my very first 26.2 so I have nothing but love for that race.

My weekend was pretty chill…and much needed! I had lots of down time which for me meant more free time to get my run on!
Saturday I coached my group over at Luke’s Locker…12 recovery miles on deck. Kept it at an easy 9:45ish pace. It was cloudy, windy and warm for most of the run.

After running and chillin’ out a bit I had to go help my mom and her teacher friends with their dance routine! They are going to be performing in a talent show at school and needed help with their moves. My mom is supposed to be Michael Jackson. We are working on her stage presence.
Saturday night I stayed home and babysat my little cousins Claire and her sister McKinley. We carved pumpkins…actually they were oranges. I found this little project on Pinterest. If you need a fun fall craft to do with the little ones I definitely recommend this. It’s a little messy but way WAAY easier to crave an orange than a pumpkin! We filled ’em up with peanut m&m’s. Claire was a happy as a clam with her orange pumpkin.

Sunday I ventured out for yet another run. 5 miles out on the Chisholm Trail. It has been a while since I’ve been out there but I enjoyed the view.

That night I made a fun fall dish – Pumpkin shells with spinach and cheese. I will post the recipe later on this week! It was scrumdiddlyumptious.

This week has been absolutely bonkers thus far. Workworkwork. Thank goodness it’s my Friday!

Oh and I’d be lying if I didn’t say this taper is just making me a little bit NUTS. I spent a majority of this morning packing and looking for my old phone which has all of my favorite songs in it. Yes I was actually going to run this race with my old phone just because it has all my music. Still haven’t found it yet. I just had it Sunday!? Crazy pants Chelsea…yep that’s me.

-Pumpkin everything. How cute are these little babies? I want to buy them all and put them all over my apartment.

-This candle has been burned just about every night this week. I just bought it less than a month ago and it’s almost all gone. Are you surprised it’s pumpkin? Sweet cinnamon pumpkin to be exact.

Major Motivation Factor and Taper Madness.

Not gonna lie…this was a major motivation factor for my run this morning.

My beloved pumpkin spice iced coffee is back. Be prepared to hear about nothing but pumpkin related things for the next couple of months. Just bear with me. I promise I have nothing but good intentions.
Started my day with some sanity miles followed by abs + arms w/ weights in my living room. 4 miles at an easy 9 minute pace. Running really is cheaper than therapy. So is this sunrise.

It may be September and almost fall but the TX heat is not letting up. 80 degrees just before 7 am.

It’s taper time around these parts! TAPER MADNESS has officially begun. That means I’m currently scaling back the miles in preparation for this 26.2. Getting so close! 1.5 weeks away.

6 Days and Carving Creations…Wknd Recap.

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty peachy – a little mix of fun, rest and relaxation. My very last taper run was also this weekend – 9 miles complete! I ran with some of my friends who will also be traveling with me to run the marathon at the end of this week. DETERMINED – that’s what we are!
After the run I did some yoga stretching and went home and had some delicious chocolate chip pumpkin bread. Real easy to make – canned organic pumpkin, spice cake mix, fold in some chocolate chips, bake…no eggs or oil needed. Plus…you can eat the BATTER…and isn’t that really the best part?
I enjoyed some with my favorite fall drink this season – the soy pumpkin spice chai tea.
Later on Saturday evening I went to my friend Marina’s house for some pumpkin carving! It was my first time ever carving a pumpkin. Can you guess which one is mine?
I decided to be real simple and carve out a heart…took me all of 5 minutes to complete.
Pumpkin carving was actually easier than I expected!  My friend had all of these fancy pumpkin carving tools which made the effort much easier. I liked getting messy and scraping out all of the seeds.
Of course we had to do what we do best and pose for the camera with our carving creations.
This week is my taper week as far as training goes so I will be focusing mostly on rest and getting all packed and ready to go. I have my checklist handy so I don’t forget anything.
Check, check, double check!!
Here’s what my schedule is looking like this week…I’m letter D…D stands for domination….
I taught a sweaty spin class this morning so I got the cross training part taken care of. I will be taking the remainder of the week off from teaching classes at the gym so I can focus just on running and resting the legs.
6 days…all systems are GO.

Happy Friday! We are downhill straight into the weekend! I am looking fwd to a nice long holiday…I am kicking things off this morning with some Joy tea from the ‘bux.
 
Last night I had my audition with the district manager at 24 Hour Fitness to teach spin class…and I made the cut! Hope to get my very own class soon…I’ve got to start building up that playlist! So excited. Get me on that bike.
What I’m loving this week…
-I need these rings in my life. I love everything chevron.
-I love me some Lupe Fiasco. Lately I have been listening to all things hip hop and he makes for some great ear candy.
-I have been slacking in the yoga department but I am so excited to head back to my favorite instructor Joseph’s yoga studio this weekend. Monday is the NATIONAL free day of YOGA!
Are you going? Get excited! Maybe I will do some tree yoga…now that was a neat experience..
-Pumpkin candles…ahh they are back! Thank you bath and body works.
-My favorite running fuel right now…these sport beans. They actually had these along the course at the Marine Corps Marathon last year so I have been trying them out on my runs. So far so good. I can’t do the GU. I have texture issues.
