–The humidity this morning was MORE THAN 100 percent. haha. I did not think that would be possible but after that run I am more than convinced. Phew. Tough but it really does feel amazing when it is all over.
–I also do not think I’ve ever sweat that much in my life. Gonna have to be replenishing the body for the rest of today.
–I’m watching Kelly and Ryan do an interview with these guys from outer space and can I say I really wish sometimes we could float around like the astronauts do. It just looks so freaking cool. Really if I could just do a quick tour and go up there with them sometime I would be a happy gal. Bucket list item for sure.
–I swear I need an espresso IV this week. Running has been tiring but I’ve had a few really great runs this week so I guess I’ll be happy about that. All about perspective.
–My summer nails are back in full effect! Having bright nails in the summer really does make me happy.

Happy Monday! It’s a good week to have a good week. Let’s recap the miles from last week!! We’ve had some lovely cloud cover and breezy mornings – nice little (sort of) cool down from the blazing hot temps. And when I say cool down I mean temps in the low 90s. Ha.
Monday- 4.21 miles winding down from the busy work day. Went a little faster towards the end than expected considering that it was a warmer day.
Tuesday AM- 4.02 morning miles around the lake. I love quiet mornings when I am not dodging strollers and doggies and people.
Tuesday PM- 3.30 progression miles on double run day. Just trying to find as much shade as possible.
Wednesday- 5.12 hump day miles in the afternoon. Harder effort pushing it a bit just for kicks.
Thursday AM- 7.11 early morning miles with the breakfast club. Rolling hills.
Thursday PM- 3.02 miles to get over 10 miles in for the day.
Friday- Active recovery run after double run day. 4.31 miles in the AM.
Saturday- 10.22 miles with my White Rock Running Co-op. Faster miles in the middle. We had lots of cloud cover and although it was pretty humid it made for a good run.
Sunday- RUN STREAK WEEK! Finished things off with 4.01 Sunday funday runday miles for the win.
And there you have it! 45.37 miles done – a bit of a boost from last week’s recovery miles.
How was your weekend?! Share some tidbits with me!
Hey there and happiest of Fridays to ya! The sun is shining bright down here in Texas and I am ready for a work free weekend! Check out this lovely morning run view. Perfect Friday feeling.
Let’s get to my faves from this week!
–Olympic memories. Fun to look back on these amazing times.
–Décor tips to bring more flashes of delight into your home. I love the sacred corner.
–Summer cherries. My jam right now.
–This flashback Friday pic (pre RONA) of me teaching a room full of hard working cycle peeps. I’ll be back in the saddle soon – but those were the days. Can’t wait to teach again social distancing style.
–And finally, your Friday funny.
Make it a great one!
What’s on tap for your weekend?
–This morning’s run was insanely HUMID! I know I keep saying that about morning runs but this truly was the most humid one yet. I mean it is a great detox after all but just insane. Just glad it is over and out of the way.
–Being an essential worker is not so bad. I don’t have the yearning to leave the house and cabin fever like so many work from home people have right now. PLUS my mask game is pretty on point. And I actually look forward to going home at the end of the day.
–Can I just say it is WAY TOO MUCH going on in the news right now – not just with Corona but with the political scene (Kanye – yikes) and all of that. I think I’m just going to take a real break from all things news for a little while. And live in my own little happy Chelsea world.
–I don’t remember if I mentioned this already but they canceled my fave, the State Fair of Texas for this year. So no Big Tex or corny dogs or cotton candy. I’ll just have to go buy them from the store or something and maybe create my own version of an outdoor social distancing carnival with my neighbors.
Here’s a throwback state fair pic just for fun.
–Are you going to be traveling anytime soon? Or have you done any traveling?! Some of my friends are going on summer vacations like there is no pandemic going on. BUT I really need a beach in my life so…HMMM…
–Coffee is really phenomenal today. Especially after my crazy early morning run.
Share some randomness with me today! I always look forward to the days that I get to share some randomness with y’all.
Hey there and happy Monday! Hope you all are staying safe and healthy. Let’s recap some miles from last week!
I took the miles back a bit in order to build back up so this was a bit of a recovery miles type of week. I can’t even tell you the last time I did less than 40 miles per week in the last couple YEARS (ha) so this was good for the body mind and soul.
Monday- Took a rest day after a long fun weekend cooking out with the neighbors. I always try to do some type of active recovery on my rest day so I did some yoga stretching and keeping the body limber.
Tuesday- 5.12 miles watching the sunset.
Wednesday- 7.02 miles, massive relative effort. Legs felt good on this day so did some rolling hills. This view though.
Thursday AM- Breakfast run club miles. 7.11 miles just getting it done. The humidity was also not as crazy on this day so was feeling great.
Thursday PM- Double run day miles. 3.02 miles and I was freaking 100 degrees out. Sucker for punishment. Over 10.1 miles total for the day.
Friday- 4.02 lunch miles. Tough relative effort according to my Garmin.
Saturday- 7.01 miles at 7. With my run club to the tune of this sky.
Sunday- Rest day. Got a good selfie in.
And there you have it! 53K miles for the week. I am going to just start using kilometers instead of miles for now whenever I do a low mileage week. HA.
Doing any virtual races at all? If you’ve done them how did they go?? Have your marathons been canceled or are they still going on?
MCM has turned virtual finally so I have deferred til 2021. I may end up just running the distance on my own since they’re charging more money to do the actual race.
Hey there and happy Friday to ya! Hope you have some fun in the sun planned for this weekend. I will be working on my tan in the sunshine of course! Texas has been brutally hot but I kind of love it. Just call me a sucker for punishment.
Let’s get to this week’s faves!
–Strategies for finding running routes during social distancing. Neighborhoods are my jam.
–Sunflowers. I am seeing them absolutely everywhere.
–Buffalo cauliflower lettuce wraps. Sign me up.
–And finally, your Friday funny. Does anyone else notice the amount of comments under the actual pins on Pinterest or is it just me? People carry full blown conversations down there. Like it is a therapy session! This boggles my mind. I just go to Pinterest for recipes for banana bread. haha
Make it a great one!
Share some of your favorite finds from this week!
–This morning’s run was CRAZY humid but it felt good to get up and get it done. We had a lot of no shows though to the breakfast run club this morning! I guess everyone was sleeping in. So I ran with one other person then was on my own for most of it.
–Yesterday my Garmin informed me that my VO2 Max went up! So I guess that’s a good indicator of fitness. My weekly mileage hasn’t been that high lately so that gave me a little boost of confidence. Still got it I guess.
Here’s a chart, if you care. haha at men are “sucking up the oxygen in the room”.
–I am so ready for some pool time and run time and chill time this weekend. Give me more sunshine.
–I still AM MORE of a fan of running in the evenings when the humidity is lower. I think I am really starting to enjoy summer running just in general.
–Feels kind of good to just not be training for anything. I feel like I’ve been “training for something” for the last 11 years that I’ve been racing marathons and ultras. Although part of me is wanting to perhaps run the marathon distance just for fun. Who wants to do it with me…
–I just took this selfie this morning because I really like my earrings. And my summer tan. I need to be darker.

Oh my has it been a scorcher out there or what!? Hope you are doing well and staying healthy! I’m here to recap some miles from last week! It has been both enjoyable and challenging getting it in and just running to maintain the general fitness right now. Plus staying strong and injury free is always the name of the game so I’ve been doing pretty good at that. Let’s see how it all went down!
Monday- 4.31 miles watching the lovely sunset after a busy work day. Just what I needed. I actually found out last week that my 50 miler was postponed to 2021. Fine by me. They moved us all to the roster for next May. I think it was a solid decision given the way the cases have been spiking especially in Texas. It wouldn’t hurt me to not completely run my immune system down and put myself at risk. I will always have a love for that race too. One of my faves.
Tuesday- 6.32 miles of beautiful sunset again. Great way to de-stress, just a quick out and back.
Wednesday- 7.12 miles with hills, massive relative effort according to Strava. It was crazy hot that day.
Thursday AM- 7.02 miles for breakfast in some insane humidity but it got done.
Thursday PM- Double run day miles. 3.30 miles to get in just over 10 miles for the day.
Friday- 4.21 miles with an epic sunrise. So worth it.
Saturday- Had a late night grilling out with neighbors Friday but still managed to roll outta bed for a quick 8.02 miles.
Sunday- Lotsa pool time and a rest day.
And there you have it!
How was your weekend? Are ya’ll seeing triple digit temps where you live yet?
We’ve had three straight days of temps in the 100s. Brutal.
Happy Friday to ya! The sun is shining oh so bright here. Like BRUTAL bright. I ventured out for a quick morning run before the busy day and it was so lovely.
We are due for some triple digit temps the weekend also! Woohoo. Catch me at the pool getting my tan on.
Let’s get to this week’s faves!
–Running improves our brain function. That explains all of the run happy feels.
–Mike Wardian’s 262.5 mile backyard ultra. You read that right. Freaking maniac.
–Me getting my groove on in the kitchen this week. Sauteed shrimp pasta was so simple and oh so delicious. Keeping this in the rotation.
–And finally, your Friday funny.
Make it a great one!
Share some of your yummy recipes you’ve been cooking up in the kitchen this week!
–The humidity is staying relentless down in Texas I tell ya! This morning was no different. AND we are due for triple digit temps for this weekend. This is good for my tan though. My tan right now is something serious. I just love it.
–Confession I haven’t worn sunscreen on the last couple of afternoon runs. I need to grab some today at the store. Because I tell you what I may be Black but I do get SUNBURNT. And it ain’t all that pretty.
–I really need to get my eyebrows done. I will be doing this at lunch today.
–Ladies is it just me or do you just have a new outlook on life when your brows are done?!? I’m a sucker for some nice eyebrows. I am not one of those chicks that can go without that. I would straight up look like a wolf.
–Are you all finally getting back to running with groups or run clubs!? I have gone to some small runs but still social distance and mostly meet up to do my own thing. Aside from my 1 or 2 amigos I stlll don’t be trusting people all that much with this ‘Rona going around. Can’t get too comfortable just yet. Goodness I hope this wraps up soon.
