Hello and happy Monday to you! It is kind of cloudy, humid and windy down here in Texas. So I am just leaving this here to motivate myself to rock it out today. Run, check…coffee, check. Going good so far.
Let’s recap the weekend a bit, shall we?
This past Saturday was my 2nd to last long-ish run before the Marine Corps Marathon! 14 miles on deck. 2 weeks out! I’m scaling things back a bit getting ready for 26.2. ISH is about to get real I tell ya. I am equal parts excited and nervous. And also am hoping for some decent running weather for the marathon.
Afterwards I celebrated with some of my Irving Running Club crew. We had lots of folks in our group that totally dominated the Chicago Marathon recently so it called for cupcakes. With ‘Made in IRC’ frosting of course. Good stuff.
Later on that day me and my homegirl Natalie took the DART rail out to the State Fair of Texas! Fireworks, smoked turkey legs and fun were in store. I love taking the rail to the fair because parking out there can be crazy. It’s a nice, stress free way to travel. Plus there’s one real close to my place to I literally just step outside of my door and go.
We walked around, ate some delicious fair food and said hello to Mr. Big Tex.
Nelly also performed at the Chevrolet stage that night…we got to see a bit of it before leaving. He played some serious throwbacks for sure.
Sunday funday runday – I had a run date with my friend Tricia who is training for the BMW Dallas half marathon in December. I am running the full marathon that day as well so I am going to be doing some recovery runs with her while she ramps up her mileage. She had 7 miles on deck for the day. Her first time running 7 miles ever! I was so proud of her for getting it done.
And of course Sunday would not be complete without mimosas…cheers to life.
How was your weekend? Do you have any fall or holiday trips coming up?
Washington D.C. oh so soon! Bring it on.
