Crawfish Boil & Another Medal on the Rack.

Hello Monday! Well this weekend was filled with some of the things I enjoy the most – racing, wearing tutus & mardi gras beads, and yummy treats & eats. Oh and playing Taboo. Me and the girls lost the Taboo game against the boys, I vote for a rematch. I blame it on being tired from dominating the Cowtown Half Marathon we ran earlier in the day.
Cowtown! Yeah let’s talk about that. I ran this race with my friend Ann on Sunday. The race was held in Ft. Worth, and went through some beautiful parts of town. It was a hilly course but a lot of fun. The Cowtown race is an entire weekend of fun: Saturday they held the 5K & 10K races, then Sunday the ultra, full and half marathoners lined up at the start line. What a great morning it was…I loved the sunrise at the start.
Of course me and my friend Ann had to take some pre-race photos. Have you seen any cuter women in tutus? Probably you have not.
The goal for this race was for Ann to set a PR. The gun went off and we were on our way. I turned on my Pandora radio with Pitbull blasting as we ran. I thought I would piss people off around me but I needed a little musical motivation. No one seemed to mind or care. We got lots of compliments on the tutus which was a big motivation and kept us running strong.
The hills were not a joke on this course. Once you thought you had conquered one hill, oh no, here comes another one. It definitely helped running with a friend because we fed off of each other’s energy. I got tired when we reached a steep hill at mile 9 but I just kept telling myself to keep pushing…Ann rocked every hill and ran strong the whole time. So proud of her.
At the last stretch, I let her go and dominate the finish. Ann clocked in at 1:50:19…I finished 1:50:41.
Overall, this was an awesome race. Challenging course, great spectators, friendly volunteers, and very organized. I would definitely do this one again.
After the race, we threw a crawfish boil at Ann and her husband Zack’s house. We ate our weight in crawfish, shrimp, sausage and potatoes then took photos in crazy masks. Good times.

Zack rocked the crawfish boil!

This weekend earns a check plus in my book. Awesome race and another medal to add to the rack. Win win.
How was your weekend? Did you eat any good food? Do tell.
