Ode to National Running Day.

So, I couldn’t just NOT do a blog post today…because today is like a real holiday in my eyes. Happy National Running Day to all of my awesome running buddies! I hope you all get out at some point today and get your run on. It’s an order.
My alarm went off at 4:45 AM this morning and I was up and ready to go. My body had a little battle with my mind this morning, I have to admit. It was not feeling the early wake up call. But I have made it a tradition to get up and run with my Luke’s Locker buddies every time this little holiday comes around. I was so glad that I made the drive to link up with friends and get the workout in.
I liked this blog post from Shut Up and Run on working out with a group, I honestly do think it’s a great confidence booster and holds you accountable.

This morning we did some drills, dynamic stretching, and various strength exercises like lunges, crunches, supermans and pushups. It felt good do some strength sets before the run.
We busted out 5 miles along a part road, part trail-like path. It was a humid but great morning to be out. Especially with friends, not something I am used to doing during the work week when I typically squeeze out runs solo.
After the run, there was Starbucks coffee and breakfast treats on deck. I had to haul out of there to be to work on time. But so glad to get it in for the day! Morning runs with friends makes me happy and a little less grouchy at work…
Tonight I am slated to teach dance for my homegirl and lead Danceaton instructor Gaby in Addison. She has been in Panama all week… (that’s where she’s from) I have missed her but have enjoyed helping out and teaching her classes! Here’s a throwback pic of us together…she’s quite awesome.
